Thanks, just got the email there. I bought the tickets, but my father paid for the flights (Ryanair and the hotel), so I'll either by surprising my girlfriend with a trip to Bratislava or my father will try to change the name of the ticket to bring my mother for a weekend to Bratislava.

I hope this is merely a hiccup in the maestro's journey.

Mike Mattessino's on FacebooK;I can tell you that this is a routine illness and that he will be fine. They will simply get him well in a London hospital and then send him home to L.A. as soon as he can travel.

Like I said earlier, I wonder how he travelled to the UK.
At 86, with a Pacemaker fitted AND the bugs one can get from the recycled air onboard a 12 hour flight, I know I'D want to travel under the most comfortable circumstances.
He shoulda took A LOVE BOAT (Poseidon) to our fayre land and arrived in relaxed style!
But yeah, hope he's up, fit and well right soon.

It's mystery to me why they decided to fly an 86-year-old, Pacemaker-installed man for 14 hours one or two DAYS before the concert. He should have gone a week in advance to readjust. I struggled tremendously with jetlag and other ailments when I went to LA from Oslo in 2012....and I was only 34 at the time!

Safe to say Williams wasn't flying Easy-Jet etc. I'm sure the flight quality was above 1st class, executive.

To do with acclimatizing now winter is approaching, the air quality in London isn't great its more built-up than New-York germs every-where. Add the time-zone where JW might be resting asleep in bed back home.

Well, I just received this e-mail (the highlight is mine).

Dear friends of music,

"A Tribute to John Williams" - under this title, the concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra which was scheduled for last year will take place on 18th and 19th of January 2020 at the Wiener Musikverein. We are pleased to announce the commitment of John Williams to perform selected highlights from his rich musical output with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a ticket purchaser of the cancelled concert from last November, we wanted to inform you, exclusively before the official release date on October 22, 2019, that the concerts will take place.

As a member of the previous season, we would like to offer you the opportunity to buy tickets as soon as the sale for the members launches, even if you have not renewed your membership for this season. This possibility is not associated with any obligation and of course free of charge.

Start of presale:
Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 9.00h (members of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde)
Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 09.00h (start of the general presale)

Concert tickets can be purchased at www.musikverein.at or in person / by telephone at the Konzertkassa of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde.
The two concert dates are:
Saturday, 18 January 2020 at 15.30
Sunday, 19 January 2020 at 11.00

We would be happy to welcome you to one of the two concerts at the Musikverein.

What does 'the commitment of John Williams' really mean though?
Is it just that he's given his blessing for the concert?
Will he appear via a video/satellite link?
Is he going to be there IN PERSON?
Conducting himself?
We need it to be more specific.
