Wow, very generous with the soundclips. Primarily because the album is arranged as a series of suites rather than individual cues. Why, I wonder? The score was conceived almost like that for a silent film in that it seldom breaks. The cues are typically joined by crossfades (Tiomkin's intention) so it resulted in long tracks with relatively few start IDs. Lukas So it was written. So let it be done (ordered, that is).

I had just ripped the Bernstein Tiomkin discs from the box set to my new iPod and was listening to this score thinking it would be nice to have more of it. You read my mind. So few record labels can read my mind. They're just not open to the experience.

Terrific! One of the all time great scores and a personal favorite. Thanks! (but no thanks to previous Warner Bros management for recording over so many of their stereo music masters!)

This is great. I have the Warner DVD which looks (& sounds) very good (well I think so) & now this double CD, great cover, & a fantastic start to the new year. Just think, with FSM, Varese, Intrada, & the rest, we're looking at about one release a week! What a massive change from the '90s.

Wow! Who transcribed that Tiomkin "Russlish" No, Dick Kleiner. There's even more to his hammy interview with Tiomkin and it's all included in the CD booklet.

I'm not typically a huge fan of Tiomkin but these sound clips are very interesting. The marching band brass sound I'm hearing is not something I usually hear in a film score. The little orchestra Bernstein used doesn't seem to give the same effect. I think I needs to buy this!

WOW!--one of my all-time favorites done in the FSM style. I can't wait to wallow in this one. This is one of Tiomkin's most balls-out scores, with him brandishing his THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY Oscar clout to produce a titan of a score. (Unfortunately, this release will also reveal how incredibly undernourished the Bernstein version was.) Thank you, Lukas. Between this and THE SILVER CHALICE, if you shut down between now and the Fourth of July, I would still be grateful.

Wow, Lukas, I don't know how you do it, but you just seem to keep defying (successfully) the Law of Diminishing Returns! Please keep doing so...

Usually, the FSM advert also informs us of earlier soundtrack releases of the score - especially if it has never been released in original format before - but not this time. What are some earlier versions? Are there any rerecordings? Am I correct to assume that this was one of the titles in the Bernstein box? Hell, Thor, all you would have to do before so eruditely asking, "Am I correct to assume that this was one of the titles in the Bernstein Box?" is- CHECK OUT THE TITLE IN THE BERNSTEIN BOX! Sweet Mother of God- Why do you care? You don't buy these things anyway? What a pill you can be...
