It would be nice if the Adam West Batman tv show would get its own soundtrack release in the future.

(though it's interesting how the TV theme music arrangement managed to get included on this CD since that version is not used in the movie).

Perhaps because it's been released on disc before?

I'm not aware of the specific TV version of the theme being on any release prior to this one.

I seem to recall that Lukas looked around for more Batman TV music while we were doing this title and found very, very little of it. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but it apparently was not sitting around in the obvious place to look...

Now that the TV series is at last out, my going through all the episodes reminded me again how a lot of themes and cues from the show that Riddle wrote are not represented in the movie CD (although some movie cues would be reused as Season 2 stock cues) and how it would be nice if some label could take it upon themselves to release what is available. While Billy May did come up with some good cues, his are more fast and frenetic (which does suit the needs of the Season 3 reduced time shows which run at a much too fast pace) whereas Riddle's music represents the true classic sound of the series.

I'd buy a tv soundtrack in a heartbeat, sorry Batbeat.

What Lukas said:

Way back at the beginning of the FSM CD series, when we were doing some Fox titles, we actually transferred a few of the mono Nelson Riddle scoring masters (before we learned that the ownership would make the licensing impossible). We did the Batman movie instead as its ownership was much simpler. I have to tell you...the TV scores were amongst the most annoyingly repetitive and drab things I had ever heard! Sorry...

Well to each their own on that point, but for me seeing the scores for "Batman" released merits a CD more than "Then Came Bronson" ever did.
