Not being a Goldsmith completist, I must admit this is one case where I might not normally buy, but the fear of regretting it later tips me to err on the side of caution and order.

I suspect others will do the same, i.e. this is one of those cases where I think the limited quantity paradigm will definitely stoke sales and maybe cause the title to sell way more than it would have done in the old 'unlimited' days, I think.

Which is cool if that helps more obscure titles come out, I guess.

Listening to the samples, I'm betting that BROTHERHOOD OF THE BELL was scored right next to THE MEPHISTO WALTZ as they seem so very cut from the same cloth.

Cheers

Both BROTHERHOOD OF THE BELL and THE MEPHISTO WALTZ were directed by Paul Wendkos.

Wendkos evidently was happy with Goldsmith's BELL score and asked him to score MEPHISTO the very next year for him.

I believe they possibly first met and worked together in early TV, on PLAYHOUSE 90, STUDIO ONE, G.E. THEATRE or CLIMAX.

No-brainer! Keep those tv (and tv movie) scores a-comin'! (Ordered within 20 seconds of seeing the announcement.)

It's a no-brainer for me....I don't care for the track samples, I don't know anything about either of these 2 scores, and I don't have the extra money to purchase something I would probably never listen to. Definitely not my taste in music.

Thanks anyway, Intrada

Yes, with the release of DAVID LEV and these two great TV-Movie scores,

other unreleased Goldsmith TV works, such as

THE MAN,

DO NOT FOLD, SPINDLE OR MUTILATE,

INDICT AND CONVICT

and

CRAWLSPACE

are most likely in the wings, waiting to make a welcome appearance!

What a great surprise! I love Goldsmith of this period, and I love his television work. I decided not to even listen to the samples -- I want to just enjoy when this one arrives!

Wish I could join in your guys' celebration, but alas, my wallet needs some time to recharge... especially with the new La-La Lands coming next Tuesday and the Varese Clubs next Monday.

Granted, I haven't listened to the sound clips yet...

Second'd. I don't know how people can be so completionist that they buy something without listening to samples, but then I do have sort of specific tastes and this era of Jazz scoring isn't within that taste. Far too many soundtracks are released these days to jump on stuff for composer name alone.

Fantastic! More Goldsmith TV music and some great sounding stuff at that...but then why wouldn't it be, it's Goldsmith, enough said!

I never thought there would be a CD of this. Wow.
Mr. Goldsmith's insights never lead us astray.

There is very little I would give that benefit of the doubt to. But I love Goldsmith from this period, and I actually think a lot of his television scoring is even more fascinating than his feature scoring (not all!), because he had to be creative with more limited resources.

I also dismiss a lot of releases out of hand, without listening to the clips. So I'm an equal opportunity clip-ignorer.

Lordy, I remember watching BROTHERHOOD OF THE BELL in Sept. 1970, fresh into 9th grade- It was the season premiere of THE CBS THURSDAY NIGHT MOVIE, quite heavily promoted. A nice, nice surprise, and yet another addition to the "Tower of Goldsmith".

Seeing this title, it had a lot of appeal. But after listening to the samples I have to say I'm not won over. Great release though for those who love the early Goldsmith thriller music. I'll wait for crawlspace smile

Oh Jeez. My favourite scores after Gil Mellé's THE ORGANIZATION. Divorced again. I haven't had this craving since I gave up chocolate.
