Tammy Grimes' biggest claim to fame was originating the title role in the Broadway production of "The Unsinkable Molly Brown". She was passed over for the film version in favor of Debbie Reynolds. Most of her work was stage oriented.

Her flop sitcom was executive produced by William Dozier (Batman) and was such a disaster that for it to be cancelled after just four episodes aired when there were still a half dozen more shot was unprecedented for the day. Usually, a show always burned off all episodes that were shot in that era to recoup costs but this one just set total lows for ineptitude.

You can see the pilot on Youtube, and it was about as amusing as a bad BM.

Thank you very much zooba.
yes, I had noticed it... ;-) It's in jwfan too..

Here ya go:

John Williams scored episodes:
"Officer's Mess" 9/8/1966
"How to Steal a Girl Even If It's Only Me"
9/15/1966
"Tammy Takes Las Vegas, or Vice Versa"
9/22/1966
"Positively Made in Paris"
9/29/1966

According to imdb, John Williams didn't score any episode. Just the theme..

According to the Williams buyer's guide in FSM (which I often use for reference), he wrote 2-3 episode scores as well.

What is this guide Thor? I don't understand..

Wow, you don't know this guide?

For many years, it's been THE source for information on Williams' filmography/discography for me, even though a few things have surfaced in recent years that are not covered there (and it also has a couple of errors). It's mostly Williams expert Jeff Eldridge's baby, but has other contributors too.

It's a three-part buyer's guide that was published over three issues in FSM in the late 90's (1998 and 1999?).

You should really check that out in relation to your dissertation.

I wish they stated which episodes exactly Williams scored for those early TV shows.
Imdb says "unknown episodes" for those particular shows, but I'm sure the ones who wrote the articles had more information as they refer to "2 episodes", "3 episodes" etc..

I did assist with that but was not the principal author. The opinions (and, based upon subsequent research, some of the facts) contained therein are not necessarily my own!

Thanks for the clarification. I always assumed the earlier part was mostly yours, in particular.

Tammy Grimes strikes me as one of those off-beat actresses in the same vein as Sandy Dennis and Barbara Harris. The performance that stands out for me is a Route 66 episode. Her and Milner's character really let their hair down in that one.

It's funny to see her name emerge here (recognizing it's an older thread, too). When I think of her I think of other stage actresses like those mentioned plus Phyllis Newman and Peggy Cass and even an actor like Tom Poston. It's like they went from the New York stage to TV panel shows. Hey I was just a kid but they were everywhere and I've never forgotten 'em.

Cool. That episode was listed in the second post of the thread as a confirmed Williams episode. Apparently, 10 episodes were produced before they cancelled, but only four of those ever went on the air. My guess is that Williams scored all 10 in 1966 -- the busiest year of his whole career.

Damn, I forgot about that. Warren Barker scored the episode that's been available on Youtube for years now (could be the pilot, yes).
