I think REAL STEEL is quite an underrated score, especially for the work it puts in elevating the film to a much higher level. Catchy as hell Main Theme too!

Pee-wee's Big Adventure

with Scrooged and Batman Returns close behind.

>>>>>>>Any of these examples (but there are much more) is a much much MUCH better score than Hulk...>>>>>>>

IN YOUR OPINION!!
That's the beauty of things, everybody likes different stuff.
His love of HULK is no less valid than your favourite scores by Elfman.
My problem was when the theme reappeared in RED DRAGON. smile

Of course it's MY OPINION... I don't speak for anyone else... I just found amazing how can someone puts Hulk as his favorite Elfman score.

I absolutely love "Alice In Wonderland". Though it seemed to be largely influenced by (perhaps) a LOTR's temp track.

Black Beauty...pure magic all the way through. Here's hoping LLL has an expanded reissue on the way this year!

In terms of sheer creative audacity...it's hard to argue anything over The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Hulk

Hulk? One of the worst scores by Elfman? Really? Uau. I would say that's a joke. Have you heard Batman? Beetlejuice? Darkman? Batman Returns? Dolores Claiborne? Dick Tracy? Sleepy Hollow? Edward Scissorhands? A Civil Action? Any of these examples (but there are much more) is a much much MUCH better score than Hulk...

First off, I'm no Elfman fan. His Burton work, although I can appreciate it in the films, as standalone listens I find them too warm and too busy for my tastes. I own Nightbreed, which I hardly ever listen to - not enough "night" in it for me, I own Spiderman, which I do listen to now and again, and I own Hulk, which I picked up randomly for cheap somewhere. I play Hulk a lot, I love it's tone, it's one of a handful of score albums that, from beginning to end, can appeal to my mood no matter what my mood is. And there you have it, the cold hard facts of my preference, which you can now consider, since the time of my original post, reinforced.

I'd have to say Batman, but Pee Wee's Big Adventure is a close second.

For me, Midnight Run beats all his other scores, hands down. The textbook example of someone who knows rock and R&B and movie music...and the perfect marriage of both
