I think someone said it already but looks like this will be a "test the waters" for Garvarentz.

Exciting times.

I hope it will be a success! I would like to advise everyone hesitating (which do not seem to be the case with the posters in this topic) to check out the samples.

I can't believe this is happening! Yesterday, the amazing Salamander release... and now these!
Fourth War (one of the greatest Conti scores) was on the very top of my personal Holy Grail list!

Have just ordered the Garvarentz double header. Hopefully they'll be more of this composer's work released in the not too distant future.

I guess that will depend on how well this composer sells.

How is that possible??

You collect vinyl LPs of Jerry Fieding, right? Have you never encountered any soundtrack by GG?

Possibly never found a Garvarentz LP in record shops and, oh well, French movies are not my top concern.

Ah, I see.

To each his own.

For myself, I like the 3 Rs (Resnais, Rivette & Roehmer) and the 3 Cs (Chabrol, Clouzot & Clement).

Perhaps it may help that Georges Garvarentz was Armenian. smile

I'm fascinated with the connection between Eastern Europe & France regarding a few composers:

Marius Constant - born in Romania, music career in France
Ivo Malec - Croatian composer in France
Georges Garvarentz - from Armenia to his brother-in-law Charles Aznavour in France
Even Mikis Theodorakis studied in the 1950s with Olivier Messiaen in Paris; he returned to Greece by 1961.

Interesting stuff.

Never saw the movie or heard Conti's score, any good Henry?

LE CORBEAU, WAGES OF FEAR and LES DIABOLIQUES. And that is only one C.

No R for Renoir?

Even as a Conti fan, I'm gonna pass on this one. I found the samples rather cheesy and dated but I'm happy for those who like it.

Not a follower of Renoir, I confess.

But I did forget a 4th C - Jean Cocteau!

[and a 5th C - Alain Cavalier]

My copy of Kller Force/ The Corrupt Ones arrived last week and it is a great release. Gorgeous love themes, exciting action musc, cool lounge cues and a great Dusty Springfeld vocal on the title song to 'The Corrupt Ones'

Garvarentz was a composer I was aware of in the 60s/70s but I ddn't see any of the movies that he scored so didn't buy the albums. Big mistake, these are really enjoyable.

Many thanks to Music Box for this fine release.

Yes, I enjoyed the Garvarentz CD too - I hadn't heard The Corrupt Ones before. I was a little disappointed with the sound on Killer Force (not sure what the source was there); I still think my LP sounds a bit punchier in all honesty.

But overall a very nice package indeed.

During the production of the CD, we came across an unlabelled tape that contained several cues not on the LP: the worthiest selections are included at the end as a bonus of previously unreleased music.

What do you mean by worthiest selections? Could you be a little bit more specific? Were the selections you eventually discarded sort of alternates or did you decide to drop some genuine material out?

And second question : why no french translation of the original liner notes any more ?

"worthiest selections" dans le sens que les 3 inédits apportaient un plus au contenu du 33 tours et se différenciaient du reste de l'album !

En ce qui concerne le livret, c'est un choix éditorial de notre label. Nous alternons entre textes bilingues et textes uniquement en anglais (plus orientés films internationaux).
