WOW!!! PASS!!!!! How's the life-size Goldsmith cardboard cutout doing? Just try and resist the temptation to cut out a hole through the crotch, okay? I know, I know - you want to do it more than anything, but if you ever become sane in the future you'll most likely want to return it to the store, and that just wont be possible if you've mutilated it and given it some lovin.

Woodroom/Finale is a cue I've wanted since I saw the film in the theater. Fracking awesome!

long time no hear... I only remember the terrific main theme (or main cue) and the tension scene with the printers... and the action ambush cue. favourite Horner score? really? what did I miss, please? It's one of those decent Horner scores that's become harder to enjoy because he pillaged large sections of it just a year later with Apollo 13. The "Main Title" from Apollo 13 was clearly temped with the MT of Clear And Present Danger, and the second half of Clear And Present Danger's MT is used completely wholesale in "Re-Entry & Splashdown," which features other sections from the score as well (like the "Operation Reciprocity" theme, one of the highlights of the Clear And Present Danger score). Also, this is one of his scores where he does his half-orchestral, half-shits-out-some-shakuhachi-and-dad's-keyboard thing, so don't expect a lot of hidden treasures amongst the unreleased bits. That said, if you don't have the score (under this title), it's well worth owning for the original album cues plus the addition of the excellent "Woodroom" track.

This IS one of my favorite Horner scores, mostly because it is a straightforward, patriotic action piece. No chants or weird stuff, just honest to goodness action and suspense. It is a Greatest Hits Package, but that never bothered me. I mean, the finale is in the same vein as his climax to Aliens, but it's different enough for me to really dig it. Also, Operation Reciprocity is such a fantastically emotional cue, it's been my favorite of his since I got the original CD. Such a shame it's wasted on a shot of helicopters.

I've always loved the first half of the cue, but then the second half is a huge snooze.

While it may not be Horner's best score, it was one of the first of his that I heard (together with Apollo 13, Legends of the Fall and Braveheart) when I started listening to film scores in the mid 90's, so out of nostalgic reasons this is a must buy for me!
