Dunno about best but certainly williams JFK is a far more mature and quietly cunning score than is perhaps appreciated. From the perfect americana to represent camelot through to the unnerving tension theme of the conspirators and the building of the scheming.

From the Golden Age, Alfred Newman's The President's Lady (1953) [VCL 1108 1088] is excellent.
