AND!! We must all do what we can to persuade Silva to give Series 1-3 the two disc treatment. Although we might have to get 2013 out of the way first. It's already a bumper year for Whomusic fans. Gold or otherwise.

I just sent an e-mail to Silva (thanks for reminding me jwb and Paul). I was persuading them for Series 4 too. wink + The Snowmen (I´m sure it´s in the works), The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe and Torchwood Series 4 Miracle Day.

Obviously I meant to say Series 1-4 for expansion in my previous post! I suppose Murray is reluctant to put out stuff from Series 1 which isn't fully orchestral, but we know we still want it.

I read that to mean the "gatefold" packaging is limited to 5000. Then the print run will continue in the jewel case format. I'm more peeved about the two "bonus" cues not available on the CD. (unless there was no more room for them.)

It wouldn't be the first time though. Season 4 & 5 had some iTunes only bonus tracks. Thankfully you didn't need to buy the album to get them, just the individual tracks.

I was not aware of this. Thxs! I'll check it out.

I can only find Bonus Tracks for season 5. 2 tracks that add up to a little over 8 minutes of music, "Emotions Get the Better of Him" and "Impossible Choice". If there are other bonus tracks somewhere, someone let me know what they are...because I can't find them.

Hi jedizim,

The other two bonus tracks come from Doctor Who Specials from Series 4 and are called: The Cyberleader Runs Amok and Never Too Old to Shoot and Fly. Only little over 4 minutes in all.

Now, Emotions Get the Better of Him, there´s one heck of an action cue!

I have now added the track times at http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/title/78546/Doctor+Who#64170 (timings from amazon.co.uk's download page). The total running time of the physical 2CD set (74 tracks) should be around 2:24:46 hours.

Now up for preorder at Silva - with exclusive alt. cover cards. Interesting, I have not seen Clara on any of the packaging that has been revealed so far. She's such a big part of the season, and in more episodes than Amy/Rory in S7.

In addition to the Jewel Box and Standard Gatefold Wallet formats, there will be a limited number of Special Edition Gatefold Wallets for sale containing cards with five alternative covers for Series 7. This will be available exclusively from this online shop. You will not be able to buy this format anywhere else.

Doctor Who Series 7 : EXCLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION
£11.99
CD

The highly anticipated soundtrack to Doctor Who Series 7, the last to feature Matt Smith as the Doctor, will be released as a double CD. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the cult BBC series, a highly collectable Limited Edition version will be exclusively available here, containing five cards featuring alternative covers for the release.

Interesting observation. Perhaps the artwork was put together early on before they started to film with Coleman. (Granted she was in episode one of series 7)

Well this will be the first release I don't preorder.
I will happily wait until the horrid cardboard packaging has sold out and I know I can get the discs in proper packaging (ie a Jewel case).

Pre-ordered! I might order it again with the jewel case though, as this is my most anticipated soundtrack for years (well, along with expanded Hook) and money means nothing in this rare instance.

Have I missed something or is the new version of the main theme not on this release? Given how well received it was (from what I recall) I'm surprised that it's not been included. Perhaps the supposed Christmas special release will contain it?!

amen to that! This sort of idiotic packaging was the reason I immediately sold some CDs packaged also this stupidly. Hopefully they'll announce the moment when they switched to regular packaging.

I just pre-ordered this from Amazon.uk because it hasn't appeared in the US Amazon store yet. Looking forward to hearing it as the music from Doctor Who has become some of my absolute favorite music that is out there.

As for the packaging, I don't love digipaks, but since it is limited I will hopefully get one of the first release packages. I like the way it looks, and I am smart enough to know how to take care of my cds even when they are in a package like this...so I am OK with it! Now hopefully it arrives in the US in one piece and not damaged!

It would be ironic if enough ppl held out for the plastic cases, that they don't sell enough digipaks to merit an additional run!

Anyone picked this up yet?

Been debating getting the CD or the FLAC download. (Basically £2 difference when postage added, for S7 + the DW Christmas Carol which I don't yet have. In both cases the CD is £1 cheaper than the FLAC or MP3 download)

Not yet. I prefer to buy from Amazon US so I can take advantage of the free Prime shipping, but if it still isn't listed for too much longer I may have to bite the bullet and order from Silva.

Mine was dispatched from Amazon.UK today! We will see how long it takes to arrive, this is my first order from them, so I have no past experience to judge.
