I haven't heard Shining Through (or even heard of it) but based on you recommendation it's definitely going on my radar!

Hi buddy! I just listened to the main theme and love it. There's a new copy on Amazon for almost $2000! I hope this gets a rerelease soon.

Henry, here are my top 5 Kamen (I tend to prefer his melodic side on album, though his action scores are usually effective in-film):

1. The Iron Giant (just brilliant and beautiful)
2. Band of Brothers
3. The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
4. Don Juan de Marco
5. Open Range

That's very similar to my top five (though I'd put Mr Holland's Opus in there and not Munchausen). What a great composer he was. Lost him far too soon.

More Kamen please. He was a genious. So awful he died so young. He was a great dramatist. Would love to see more of music released.

Dont think anyone has mentioned WHAT DREAMS MAY COME a wonderful score that is often unfairly dismissed as it replaced a good one by Morricone. For my money Michael's is better anyway.
Personal favourites are THE DEAD ZONE and MONA LISA.

These prices are astronomic (do you say that in English?). On Amazon Germany it's new EUR 25,-, used from about EUR 4,-

Yes, I do like that, he put his heart into it and it shows. (Morricone's is just unbelievably good, though, and I would just love to have a proper release of it.)

Also, get your hands on Kamen's Electric Guitar concerto. I posted a link to the Clapton one on my blog http://amatalqa.wordpress.com/2013/04/19/michael-kamens-concerto-for-eric-clapton/

Enjoy

This. Although I enjoy the Saxophone-concerto more – especially the second movement of the guitar concerto is vintage Kamen-on-a-roll. Reminded me of NYR&R smile

The complete Eric Clapton Orchestra Night should be made available. Not just for Kamen's concerto. It includes Kamen's arrangement of a down right fantastic White Room, a heartrending Bell Bottom Blues, and a if-you've-been-so-much-in-love-you'll-cry-your-eyes-out overwhelmingly beautiful You Look Wonderful Tonight.

Yes, I'm enthusiastic. smile God, what an artist Kamen was.

And oh, talking about things that should be made available: MV, how's the work on Lethal Weapon going? wink

And I say that as an proud owner of the Bacchus-release.

My favorite is FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON... sadly, still unreleased.

We watched some of FtEttM on July 20th (Moon Day). I realized that I DO have a grail left! Not just the Kamen stuff, but BOY I would love the Freedom 7 sequence.

The kids and I watched The Iron Giant tonight. All the bits I usually tear up at I got a little more because Kamen isn't with us.

The best? Mr. Holland's Opus. By a long shot.

X-Men isn't bad either.

Funny I have been on a Kamen kick too! Started with his gorgeous theme for "BAND OF BROTHERS".
