Many of the above would be fine, but...William Alwyn's beautiful score for this one first please .....

I want "Song of the South". Score by Daniele Amfitheatrof.

Agreed, Ron. Such a shame the film is so vilified these days. Those that can look deep enough would find that its core themes underline the value of gaining of self-confidence and perseverance when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and most importantly, the idea that the development of friendships can - and must - transcend race and age.

To me, this is one of the most powerful and moving images in all film.

The Rocketeer

Weren't Intrada trying to do this one, but then got ixnayed from someone higher up in the foodchain? (Note: I *seem* to remember this having been said/posted by somebody/somewhere...confirmation or correction of this is very much welcomed.)

Max Steiner
Hans Zimmer
Elmer Bernstein
Maurice Jarre
Joel McNeely
Oliver Wallace
Ron Goodwin
Paul J Smith
Bruce Broughton

What Disney titles by these composers do YOU hope they are working on?

Is there a Max Steiner Disney release in addition to "Those Calloways"?

I can't think of any.

But it's possible, working with Lukas Kendall, that some material from WBros might be possible for Intrada. It would be fantastic if suddenly the stereo masters of things like PARRISH, ROME ADVENTURE, SUSAN SLADE, YOUNGBLOOD HAWKE and others were to be found.

As I said over at Intrada, I'm hopeful some of the Wallace/Smith scores for the animated shorts are visited. After the quality of these recent 40s/50s titles from Kritzerland, as well as the quality (stereo!) and content value of FSM's Tom and Jerry set, I'd love to see what cartoon stuff might be unearthed from those famous vaults.

Pino Donaggio did a Disney movie. A very nice score to a coming of age movie from 1982 called TEX.

There are probably at least two generations of Disney-DVD owners who have never seen or heard of this film. For many, I presume, it's as if "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" were nothing more that some old Disney song video without any cinematic provenance. What a pity.

Someone at the Intrada forum has suggested the score from Dr Syn alias The Scarecrow (aka The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh) by Gerard Schurmann. I would assume that would include the Terry Gilkyson song:

I can't think of any Max Steiner WB cds by any label other than the BYU series. After nearly 15 years of many great golden age cds none of the labels have done any Steiner WB cds! Any reason for this?

Is it too obvious to say that I would love to see the following

Delerue: Something Wicked...
Horner: Rocketeer
Zimmer: Lion King
Goldsmith: Mulan

Plus I'm sure there are loads of terrific scores to films I have never seen but will love discovering.

But who knows whether Intrada can touch things like Mulan or Lion King. I've seen several posters say they can't but can't recall seeing any definitive post by Intrada on the matter.

Still.... happy days ahead

I've been waiting since 1991 for Thomas Newman's exquisite score to Deceived (Touchstone Pictures).

Agreed, and his brother David's Paradise, Disorganized Crime, The Mighty Ducks and so on.

Doug, on the Intrada message boards:

Yes, a terrific flow of releases is now on the table with Disney and us, but please keep in mind those vaults (which include Disney, Touchstone, Hollywood Pictures and so forth) are pretty deep and have literally thousands of rolls of tape to yield. Searches are underway, elements are being restored, legal terms and artist estate requirements are being scrutinized, dozens of projects are being developed as I write... but it will take time to even begin hitting everyone's personal favorites. And we plan on tackling more of our own favorites as well. We have no plans to end with our beloved Goldsmith's, Horner's, Barry's, Steiner's, Zimmer's, Bernstein's, Jarre's, McNeely's and whatnot. Our ongoing list of names ranges from Oliver Wallace to Ron Goodwin, from Paul J. Smith to Bruce Broughton, from George Bruns to Johnny Mandel, from... well, you get the idea. Hang in there.

Reading Doug's post I don't think he said that there were neccessarily Disney titles coming up by those composers.
