With regard of the dress code, we went to Silvestri's Concert a couple of years ago, and we didn't see any t-shirts or jeans, only black suits and ties.

Austrians are very conservative! wink

Add me to the list - I'll take a train so I can join in with the drinks.

Will do. You mean the dinner, right, and not just the drinks after the concert?

Any updates on wether there will by a symposium on the 2nd?

I still haven't booked my ticket, so I could arrive early on the 2nd, otherwise I was going to arrive on the 3rd...

Thanks.

@Thor

I need to check with my friend who will be joining me from Berlin, but I think we could join after the concert for drinks as well.

That's a good question. I currently have hotel booked only for one night on 4/5th October and I was also planning to arrive around noon on Friday and then leave on Saturday.

If there is any symposium happening and if there is any chance to actually get in, it would be good to know as soon as possible so there is still any chance to book few more nights at the hotel and also finally get the train ticket changed to arrive few days earlier...

If anyone hears anything about it, please, let us all know...

I think Marian mentioned something about a symposium on the MORNING of the 2nd. This means that I won't make it as I only arrive in the afternoon this day.

Great. I've added you to the list.

We're coming up on 20 people now. We'll soon have to book a whole restaurant! smile

It usually starts in the morning (around 9 I think). Still no update on this year as far as I'm aware though. Getting in hasn't been a problem in the previous years - you sign up in advance (or just there at the entry point - I don't think they've ever run out of seats), pay a small admission fee (€10 I believe) and that's it.

Added a deadline -- September 15th!

I'm also arriving later than the symposium so will have to miss out on that sadly. I am contemplating of doing the first concert as well as I will be arriving on thursday, to get the most out of the trip.

Regarding dinner, nice to see so many people attending! It will be a blast.

The challenge is to find a restaurant that can house that many people -- I'm looking into that now. The restaurant in the concert house is most likely sold out after September 15th, especially for so many people and on this particular day. Most of the other restaurants are in the old city, so not a lot around the concert house. But a couple.

Details are in. The symposium will indeed be on the 2nd, at a considerably higher entry fee this year (€25), but apparently it includes a "simulated" recording session. Should be interesting for those who can make it.

Here's a nice overview:

I see that it lasts to 19:00. I could probably make it to 17:00 and get the last couple of hours, but I don't think they would let me 'stumble in' like that. Also, it would be a lot to pay for just two hours -- which seems to be mostly Austrian people talking about stuff.

Bummer! But great for those who can make it.

I guess the afternoon programme will mostly be the recording session thingy. But I doubt it would really make sense to catch only the very end, especially when probably nobody knows when exactly it'll end.

hmmm... great! with such an early start it's getting necessary to arrive on the 1st and becoming so damn expensive!
and only half of the concert with Horner's music?! Another disappointment!

What do you mean? This was never going to be an all-Horner concert. The second half traditionally belongs to the awardee, but the first half has works by various composers. If anything, the first part looks unusually short and "pop"-based this year. No Korngold, Steiner, Herrman, Rozsa...

In the last years there has always been an autograph session at apr. 15:00 during the symposium.

I'm in for the get-together on Friday.
Good to meet other Fsm people and film music aficionados! smile
