Great to have Days of Thunder - I only saw it for the first time last year and the opening track is just terrific.

MV,
if you happen to look in here, will the horror score discount still be active when DoT goes on sale?

Yeah looks like Terry ripped off Zimmer's song. How'd you come across that?? Obscure.

YAY!!!!! for Days of Thunder!!! The only question I have in mind is whether the Final Race cue is a part of the release.

I wondered that too, since IIRC it's a Mancina composition. My guess is yes, judging by the 70-minute run time.

Mancina may have been involved in the song, but I'm pretty sure Hans did parts of it too. Billy Idol wrote the lyrics though.

I read about it years ago. But it seems like the Reid-version of the song may have been intended for the movie. Reid has got another song on the soundtrack album by the way, Gimme Some Lovin.

It had been nice had the Reid-version been on La-La's CD. And this one should be there too, Peabo Bryson's Lost In The Night, based on Zimmer's Cole & Claire-cue. No idea what the story is here, maybe this one also was intended for the film.

Cheer's First Breath, not heard of the Peabo Bryson's song either (GEMA once again means I can't watch the video, but the song is on Spotify). Most intriguing.

I love that the first hit for "Peabo Bryson's Lost in the Night Days Of Thunder" was this FSM thread from 2010 smile

There is a tiny mention midway do this page, but I'm not really sure what the site is / who backs it.

La-La Land Records and Sony Pictures Entertainment present the original motion picture score to the 2011 feature film drama restless, starring Mia Wasikowska and Henry Hopper and directed by Gus Van Sant. Renowned composer Danny Elfman (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, BATMAN, SOMMERSBY, BLACK BEAUTY) crafts another notable original score – a delicate, but stirring work, in the vein of his music for MILK and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, that expertly finds the heart and soul of Van Sant’s delightfully offbeat romantic drama. Produced by Danny Elfman and mastered by Patricia Sullivan at Bernie Grundman mastering, this special release is limited to 2000 units and includes exclusive, in-depth liner notes from film music writer Tim Greiving which feature comments from director Gus Van Sant. The attractive art direction is by Dan Goldwasser.

I just watched Restless last night and it there was a song during the title sequence? Elfman's take must have been rejected.

Presumably it's track 4...? No asterick next to it suggests it was used in the film. Or am I missing something?

There are 2 versions of Car Building. One was released as a single along with I believe the Coverdale song. The version as heard in the film sounds very different. Always wondered about this. The things that keep me up at night...

We were talking about the final score cue for the last race sequence in the movie, which I always understood to be scored/adapted by Mancina. Now I see it looks to be on the album! big grin
