Watched this film tonight, expecting it to be a pallid version of the Korean original. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it, a large part of which was the score (but also the odd visual in-jokes relating to the original). Will keep an eye out for the CD.
I've been giving this a lot of plays of late - Well, the 18 minute suite I made anyway for my own listening purposes. At its best there are some truly stunning moments - The brief but understatedly ravishing love scene cue, the amazing crescendo that "Revenge" builds to followed by the intense and agonized string writing, and of course the penultimate cue, "Destiny", which builds on its lyrical string/piano theme to a gorgeous crescendo and then reprises some of the grittier urban elements and Hermannesque suspense writing for the end title portion of that cue.
Awesome stuff, even if there's also some plodding to get to the meat. I do think amazing things lie ahead for Mr. Banos, and oh-so-deservedly so!
