This is a really good score ... classic symphonic scoring at its best ... we dont see much of that nowadays ... It's been out of print for awhile, but it's back in stock.
I didn't recall the score from the film, which was a disappointing watch on video nearly 30 years ago now. But man am I glad I picked this up when it first came out. I give it a spin probably more frequently than most albums I've picked up in subsequent years. Maybe my new favorite score of the dark, gothic kind with classic stylings.
I bought this CD off eBay (£7.99) quite recently (about a week before his death was announced, oddly enough). I've just loaded the CD to play. As noted above, dark...gothic...classical...and just oozing quality and class. A really strong symphonic horror score.
Marvellously moody, Mahlerian music for an off-beat re-imagining of the classic monster tale. For quite some time all there was of it to be had were two tracks on one of those Silva compilations. Bless BSX for bringing the whole shebang to life.
