I find Gibson to have a wonderful sense of humour, and I suspect I`d get along well with him in-person if I had the opportunity. Thats based upon what I know of him.

His comments to his ex were stupid. Have any of us done stupid things? Here we have a single stupid thing, reported upon by media.

Racist slurs uttered while drunk. How many stupid things have drunk people uttered whilst drunk? In the face of having devoted (for example) a considerable portion of his life, monies, and energies to producing the film Apocalypto, I find it absurd to seriously contend that the man is a racist.

I suspect like all of us, he is fallible, he is susceptible to mistakes, and under the influence of alcohol his id/ego is given to weirdness certainly on par with that which any of us might display while similarly intoxicated. In front of ravenous tabloid press, to boot.

My impression of him is he is an extremely talented individual who is pleasant to be around... he seems light-hearted. I will not condemn the man because of a private moment of anger to an ex or a drunken bit of stupidity. Certainly not in the face of the rest of his life.

I think having both Gibson and Foster participate in some fashion in Iron Man or The Avengers would be a tremendous boon to both productions, and I`d look forward to them.

Another one who backed the Veronica Mars movie and looking forward to it.

Does this mean you can watch it in the cinema for free?

I mean you already payed for it!

I only paid for a very, very small fraction (and if it does get a UK cinema release [not guaranteed], the price of a ticket would likely still be more than what I chipped in at Kickstarter).

You're confusing Veronica Mars with Serenity.

if Alec Baldwin can get away with HALF the crap he spews and keeps coming back, Mel Gibson can.

We're supposed to be about second chances in the country. If RDJ can hit rock bottom and come back, Mel Gibson should be allowed to. You don't have to forget, but constantly putting him down for his indiscretions does no one any good, and just makes people look bitter and a little too high and mighty.

I'm not Gibson's biggest fan. He's an entertainer and I care little what he does in his not-so-private-thanks-to-the-media life. (I will even go as far as to say that there is evidence to suggest his partner skillfully orchestrated the incidents and exploited the effects of his substance abuse for her own gain. But I don't wanna drift too far off course here.)

Anyway, life is about nothing if not redemption. This is something Downey (who I am a big fan of) understands all too well.

Like the saying goes, "Ya gotta sin to get saved."
