New Year's Day, drinking mimosas and listening to jazz, I have had SyFy's TZ marathon on as background visuals, with the mute button on.

I swear, every time I glance at the TV, I see Jack Klugman.

So I ask: Is Jack Klugman in Every Twilight Zone? Or, like a TZ character, have I entered my own Twilight Zone, in which I see Jack Klugman everywhere?

Klugman isn't even in every episode of QUINCY, M.E.!!!

Recently watched the TZer when Mr. Klugman's an on-the-skids trumpet player. Many close-ups of his mug. He was superb, had a real camera face to go with his oral conviction.

Klugman’s best episode of Twilight Zone was the one called “Quincy ME” where he plays a character in a a Groundhog-Day scenario - exactly the same story played out over and over again, with different characters but always the exact same outcome.

...or how about Joe Flaherty as "Quincy Cartoon Coroner" on "S.C.T.V."?

Klugman to the best of my knowledge did appear in one television Western, and that was "The Virginian".

Jack was in a New Outer Limits episode as an android inventor. He was shown in pre-recorded messages so he didnt interact with the cast. I dunno if that was in the original script or done to accommodate him. It was after he lost a vocal cord.
I seem to recall him doing a contemporary intro for a Playhouse 90 (or similar live series) episode. He was dressed like Gilligan.

Mildly off-topic, but has everyone heard the "Quincy" theme with lyrics?

Sorry, but I won't listen to that. It's bad enough that I heard Sarah Vaughan sing the lyrics to the Peter Gunn theme, which made me hate both that theme and Sarah Vaughan's dudelike singing voice.

that's hilarious. I heard extremely similar lyrics (badly summarizing aspects of the film) for main theme of "Terms of Endearment" on college radio about 20 years ago. Different guy, I suspect. Wish I could find it.

There's…

A…

Mur…

Der…

It was poison…

Take him down to Quincy.
He will cut him open!
He will know what killed him
Instantly.

He works with a Japanese guy
Who looks in the microscope a lot!
Watch those cops pass out!

He used to be Oscar.
He lived with Felix Unger
I think he was best on Twilight Zone.
In the Quincy theme song there's this really cool jazz part.
Here it comes!

Quincy is just ending,
But, oh boy, the show on next is Barnaby Jones!
