I remember when "Astro Boy", "Speed Racer", "Kimba The White Lion", and "Marine Boy" aired on KBHK T.V. San Francisco. "Astro Boy" was withdrawn from syndication in '72. Unfortunately when it came time to issue "Astro Boy" on D.V.D. in '99, most of the voice tracks that were used in the American version were destroyed, and the company was forced to scrounge every audio source from the American version they could think of. "Marine Boy" was gone that same year, and "Kimba The White Lion" was gone by '74. Fortunately, "Speed Racer" continued to air from time to time.

Marine Boy, Gigantor and Kimba were my favorite "anime" brought to America at that time. I was less interested in Speed Racer because race cars really didn't fascinate me all that much. But Speed Racer is certainly a classic, with a classic theme song.

Thanks for the review and the reminder. Been meaning to pick up the WA DVDs. I grew up watching Marine Boy and would love to check it out again.
