Hey DinB, you're not the only one who misses Douglas Adams:

I miss Douglas Adams as well. I will miss Terry Pratchett when he is gone. (Though still writing he has announced he is in the early stages of Alzheimer's) I find the Discworld books just as funny as Hitchhiker's guide et. al.

Dammit.
Yesterday was the 25th and I totally forgot to wear a towel.

Ock-dude, I was totally using a towel (doing my back exercises on the floor), and didn't even know it was in honor of that swell guy.

Thanks for the reminder.

BTW, I still need a HHGTTG omnibus on acid-free paper, because the pages on mine are totally turning brown.

I wish I could take the credit but, to my shame, I didn't even remember it myself until I saw a meme about it on 9Gag.

Dummy me. frown

12 Years??!! Wow...a much-missed mind...can't believe it has been that long...

Gone 12 years today.

Looks like Adams is one of the few "Science Fiction" icons not fawned over around here. smile

Oh, I wouldn't say that. He probably doesn't get discussed here as much because he's largely known for written works and discussion here principally revolves around visual ones (movies and TV shows - with which he was certainly also involved of course, but still), and also because he's been dead and hence rather inactive for more than a decade. But he definitely has passionate fans here, I can assure you.

I very much miss him myself. frown

The radio series is the best incarnation of HHGTTG, in my opinion.

you and I are in complete agreement, David. smile

I didn't. Thanks for the reminder, Mr. O.

I do think about him every time I think how useful a towel would be in SO many situations, though. So, for me, almost every day is his day.

Been a while since I listened to the radio adaptation of Hitch-hiker's Guide....may have to dig it out again. Funny stuff and yes I now miss Terry Pratchett as well...
