Although I can't help but wonder how many more copies of SENILITA' could be purchased by Miklos Rozsa's fans if they were only aware how much this Piccioni soundtrack resembles Rozsa's romantic music.
I don't think it's that easy. I have a few friends who are also Miklos Rozsa fans like me, but for whom SENILITA' is not really their cup of tea. I have often tried to persuade one or the other, but it is difficult: One may go for it, the other one not. You need to have a particular sensiblity for this kind of music even though there might be a few similiaritites now and then with Rozsa's romantic style. But nevertheless, it is a quite unique delicate impressionistic style with a strong Mediterranean flavor and also with dissonances in between which are not to everyone's liking - and above all not to those who are mainly accustomed to the usual US kind of scoring.
TR could you elaborate a little on how Senilita resembles Rozsa? I do see some romantic style similarities but not enough to make a connection.
Not much to elaborate on, though.
In my spreadsheet on Piccioni, I attempt to compare a Piccioni soundtrack with that of another composer's (in the event I ever wish to mention such here @ FSM from time to time).
Actually, on the 1992 CAM CD, Didier Deutsch made mention of the similarity of SENILITA to some of Rozsa (and I'm merely carrying the torch in this direction).
I should read my notes, alas I get caught up in the music. I think what is meant by Didier is the sublime modern romanticism similarity between Rozsa's scores and this particular work.
After a refresher of Senilita recently, I'm waiting in anticipation even more.
I'm really looking forward to hearing it in full I ordered it direct from Saimel along with: Cuore Di Cane Le evasioni celebri: Benvenuto Cellini - L'evasione di Casanova L'etrusco uccide ancora 3 Del Colorado
Thanks for the tip I have been very happy with these releases so far this year. Solimano il Conqiuistatore Immagini Di Un Convento Vita Di Michelangelo I Promessi Sposi Il Pistolero Dell'Ave Maria Il Mio Nome È Shangai Joe Danza Macabra Seddok, L'Erede Di Satana / Lycanthropus
Few more that I'm really looking forward to hearing Maciste L'Uomo Più Forte Del Mondo Senilità The Spy Who Came in From Cold
It's the one Piccioni score I've been waiting for someone to release, along with Cristo si e Fermato a Eboli. It seems like the labels are releasing everything from Piccioni these days EXCEPT for the 2 scores that I've been most longing for. Tre Fratelli's score is achingly melancholic, spare & intensely nostalgic in nature - the scores from Un Bambino Di Nome Gesu & Chronicle of a Death Foretold sound similar to the music found in Tre Fratelli -which would make sense, seeing as they are all later Piccioni scores composed around the same period.
Here's a link to the trailer for Tre Fratelli - it will give you a good idea of the style of music
I'm a little unsure of the "Piero Morgan" and Gesu. Samples aren't available yet? Looking forward to some impressions from the collector's/experts. There seem to be a run on Piccioni recently.

I don't know of any sound samples from the Saimel release, ajhfsm, but BELLE MA POVERE is a follow-up from POVERI MA BELLI (Giorgio Fabor) so Piero's score may be in a similar mode.
My guess (neither having seen nor heard both) is that this latest Piccioni offering from Digitmovies might very well sound like his 1957 GUENDALINA ...
