Although I can't help but wonder how many more copies of SENILITA' could be purchased by Miklos Rozsa's fans if they were only aware how much this Piccioni soundtrack resembles Rozsa's romantic music.

I don't think it's that easy. I have a few friends who are also Miklos Rozsa fans like me, but for whom SENILITA' is not really their cup of tea. I have often tried to persuade one or the other, but it is difficult: One may go for it, the other one not.
You need to have a particular sensiblity for this kind of music even though there might be a few similiaritites now and then with Rozsa's romantic style. But nevertheless, it is a quite unique delicate impressionistic style with a strong Mediterranean flavor and also with dissonances in between which are not to everyone's liking - and above all not to those who are mainly accustomed to the usual US kind of scoring.

Senilita is the gold that broke the camel's back. Cart cleared.

Claudia Cardinale always adds to the allure.

$9.99 is good, ScreenArchives is crazy cheap. However I know nothing about this title.

Well I'll want Senalita. I have the CAM, but the new mono addition is greatly appreciated.

Me, too. I want this upcoming edition of SENILITA'.

Count me in as well that is at least three copies taken care off wink

Out off all the scores I would like to have seen an expansion Senilita' would be pretty much at the top followed by La Fuga.

I'm not a fan of Rozsa, I do however appreciate his immense abilities and can enjoy his work.

TR could you elaborate a little on how Senilita resembles Rozsa? I do see some romantic style similarities but not enough to make a connection.

Not much to elaborate on, though.

In my spreadsheet on Piccioni, I attempt to compare a Piccioni soundtrack with that of another composer's (in the event I ever wish to mention such here @ FSM from time to time).

Actually, on the 1992 CAM CD, Didier Deutsch made mention of the similarity of SENILITA to some of Rozsa (and I'm merely carrying the torch in this direction). smile

I should read my notes, alas I get caught up in the music. I think what is meant by Didier is the sublime modern romanticism similarity between Rozsa's scores and this particular work.

After a refresher of Senilita recently, I'm waiting in anticipation even more.

Piccioni is getting much attention recently.

Dusty Groove HAD a copy of Quartet's sold-out QUELLE STRANE OCCASIONI for $9.99!

In a matter of hours after I posted this, QUELLE STRANE OCCASIONI went out of stock.

And days later, both L'ATTICO and IL DEMONIO just sold out over @ Dusty Groove.

Piccioni is selling!

I hope our thread here is helping to spread the love. smile

Next from Saimel:

Piccioni's music for an Italian television program entitled UN BAMBINO DI NOME GESU' (A CHILD CALLED JESUS).

No image file from Google images yet, but here's an image from a video:

This is interesting to me because I don't own any Piccioni soundtracks from the late 1980s.

Has anybody impressions of Tre Fratelli's music?

Has anybody impressions of Tre Fratelli's music?

It's the one Piccioni score I've been waiting for someone to release, along with Cristo si e Fermato a Eboli. It seems like the labels are releasing everything from Piccioni these days EXCEPT for the 2 scores that I've been most longing for. Tre Fratelli's score is achingly melancholic, spare & intensely nostalgic in nature - the scores from Un Bambino Di Nome Gesu & Chronicle of a Death Foretold sound similar to the music found in Tre Fratelli -which would make sense, seeing as they are all later Piccioni scores composed around the same period.

Here's a link to the trailer for Tre Fratelli - it will give you a good idea of the style of music

Someone please release it!

Music from Christo Si Fermato A Eboli.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kL6BR9ttdw

Check the first two minutes of the clip, from around 0:22-2:35 .

The music is absolutely beautiful. Why this score has not had more exposure is beyond me.

Very impressive the music feels quite sparse and intimate it is impossible to let it go by without getting drawn in by its beauty.

I'm a little unsure of the "Piero Morgan" and Gesu. Samples aren't available yet? Looking forward to some impressions from the collector's/experts. There seem to be a run on Piccioni recently.

I don't know of any sound samples from the Saimel release, ajhfsm, but BELLE MA POVERE is a follow-up from POVERI MA BELLI (Giorgio Fabor) so Piero's score may be in a similar mode.

Here's SAE's samples for Fabor's POVERI:

http://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/26247/POVERI-MA-BELLIE/

My guess (neither having seen nor heard both) is that this latest Piccioni offering from Digitmovies might very well sound like his 1957 GUENDALINA ...

I will consider carefully as I am unfortunately in the limited funds club.

I think the earliest Piccioni I have is I Magliari.
