The 3 stores in my city still have the same old CD's.

Now there ARE a few I'm interested in if anyone has these at your local store?

United 93 - Powell ( I traded off the 1 copy I could find, darn it )
Shoot 'Em Up - Haslinger ( am interested in this but am going to watch the movie again first to see if its one I realllllly want razz )
Superman The Movie - the 2 CD Debney conducted version.

Drop me a note if your stores have them

I talked to a few of the employees at different stores and in a few cases the CDs were not selling so the manager sent them back to the FD warehouses.

Then FD will sell their inventory of these CDs to another discount outlet and they will sell them for $1.50 each.big grin

I should have said that they were told they went back the FD warehouse to be shifted to another FD store that wanted them and could sell them. I still ask the employees to the FD in my town when they are going to get their shipment and they just shrug their shoulders. They never received anything.

Good to see this thread is still active! Stopped by a new FD yesterday and found a ton of soundtracks for sale. Picked up the following:

The Day After Tomorrow (Klosser)
Identity (Silvestri)
Looney Tunes Back in Action (J. Goldsmith)
The Missouri Breaks (Williams)
Superman 2 CD (Debney/Williams)
Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Were Rabbit (Nott)
Standard Operating Procedure (Elfman)
Fantastic Four (Ottman)
Zathura (Debney)
Land of the Lost (Giacchino)
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (Silvestri)

I had never seen any of these at FD before. There were a ton more I did not pick up.

Apologies if you already mentioned your location elsewhere in the thread, but what area did you find these? These are some good titles.

I've done a bit of traveling of late and can confirm/deny a few stores.

I mentioned the Southaven MS store on Goodman (#3645) had them earlier; they still do. #3443 on Stateline Road, about 10 minutes away, has them too. The FD in Natchez, MS (#6603) has quite a few, but the one across the river in Videlia LA has zip.

In my old Michigan stomping grounds, both the FD in tiny Reed City (#5092) and Big Rapids (#2247) have discs.

Has anyone been to a Family Dollar store to see if these are still around? I went to one today and as someone said earlier "Motown" is all that was left.

I looked a few months back and there was scant few left. Leatherbacks and Xmen 3, I think?

Last month, I visited two Family Dollar stores in my city, the first time in less then a year since I stopped by these stores. They were some Varese CDs, but they were the same titles as the one that were mentioned on this thread--no new titles.

Last summer, with my recumbent bicycle, I visited many Family Dollar stores in the five boroughs of New York City. Some stores had many Varese titles, some had a few, others had no Varese CDs. It was fun visiting these cities. Playing some film music as I was riding made the long bike trip bearable.

However, after visiting these two FD stores recently and checking out the inventory, I feel that it is indicative that all the other FD stores in the five boroughs would carry these same titles. So, I am not interested in doing another cross-borough trip.

I’m done with the FD/Varese CD searching.

A few of my local stores still have the same stock as before. I still scour the bins, but these days I'm more tracking down the discontinued Time/Life CD's, but on occasion will pick up one of the Varese discs.

It sure was a rush back then big grin

well - Not Dollar Store, but...

Last night I was at Half Price books to get the kid a school book. I had to peruse the CD section of course. So I found a sealed copy of Pet Shop Boys Elysium and a sealed copy of FSM Bullitt, each $6 and $4. I was impressed with the find of the FSM disc, especially sealed.
