My God, it's such an onslaught of series premieres and season premieres happening over the last couple of weeks, I can hardly keep up. I'll try to update the first post once I'm up-to-date. September and October seem to be THE months for this stuff.

OK, I've updated the first post with ended seasons, cancelled shows etc. When going through the list, I was surprised to discover a whole handful of shows I've been following had been cancelled! Damn.

Did anyone see Humans, an AMC show from (I think) last year? About synthetic human beings. Checked the first post and doesn't looked like it's been mentioned in this thread. I haven't seen it; it looks cool and wondered if anyone had any thoughts. Biggest name actor involved I think is William Hurt. Just got the score by Cristobal Tapia de Veer and it is awesome, all synth, very trippy but mesmerizing.

I was a big fan of the original Swedish show (ÄKTA MÄNNISKOR), and was bummed when it was apparently cancelled after two seasons a couple of years ago. In fact, one of the reasons for its cancellation might have been the prospect of the American remake.

But I do intend to check out HUMANS -- even if the storyline might be exactly the same. It might have more expensive production values. But obviously, part of the original show's appeal was seeing sci fi in a Nordic, local setting.

I DO own the score, though, and I agree -- it's totally captivating, although not QUITE on the same level as De Veer's brilliant music for UTOPIA. Which is even more "out there". Also a fantastic show, btw.

MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE - Amazon

anyone else here finished watching it?

I really liked it and was pleasantly surprised that it included as much PKD as it did.

SO, there will be a second season. They ended it with an episode that could have been the finale or, a preview of the second season. Clever of them!!!!

Finished MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE just now. Pretty good show, and I'm glad to see that a second season apparently has been commisioned.

In other news, I'm thoroughly enjoying THE EXPANSE. SyFy has certainly raised their bars with this one. But CHILDHOOD'S END was rubbish -- hard to believe Arthur C. Clarke churned out that one (or it could just be the way SyFy adapted it, of course).

Otherwise, a bit of a hiatus in new shows or seasons now, for the paranormal shows I'm following. I've updated the first post accordingly.

HEROES REBORN is apparently cancelled, even if it ends open-ended with a set-up. Ah, well.

At least X-FILES is back on the air. I'm looking forward to that.

What about LUCIFER, which just premiered? Are there any paranormal elements in it (beyond the premise), or is it basically just another cop/crime show?

No takes on LUCIFER?

So far I've been watching some of both The Colony (USA -- sci/fi) and The Magicians (Syfy -- supernatural) and both are quite good. Both are new series and I hope they both stick around...

Haven't seen Lucifer.

THE COLONY got me excited for a moment, untill I looked it up and saw it was a reality show. Damn! THE MAGICIANS seems kinda intriguing, but I'm more into sci fi and less into fantasy (unless it's hardcore stuff like GAME OF THRONES or LOTR).

Desperately searching for a new show now. It seems to be pretty quiet.

The Colony I'm referring to is not a reality show. It's from Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and stars Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies, set during the aftermath of an extraterrestrial invasion.

I'm very excited about The Magicians because one of the showrunners is Sera Gamble, who was the showrunner of Supernatural during Seasons 6-7 and wrote some of the best episodes of the show's history between seasons 1-7. I'm excited to see what she creates and have faith in her talent.

Ah yeah, I looked up the wrong THE COLONY (there is no 'the' in the show you're speaking of).

GREAT! Another show I can add to my list. Will check out asap. I'll add THE MAGICIANS too, even if it isn't exactly up my alley from the descriptions.

I've updated the first post with relevant dates etc.

THE EXPANSE finished, which was a great show. Can't wait for the second season! Also thanks for the recommendation on COLONY, which is intriguing (reminds me a bit of some elements in the cancelled WAYWARD PINES).

Otherwise, I'm currently following BLACK SAILS, GRIMM, SUPERNATURAL, THE 100 and THE X-FILES. Waiting for other shows to return, while also -- as always -- looking for new shows. If something like COLONY was recommended to me out of thin air, I have high hopes that I'm missing some other great sci fi/paranormal shows currently on the air.

Regarding THE MAGICIANS...I've read a bit about the premise on Wikipedia, and it looks to be a straight re-working of HARRY POTTER. Is there something for adults there, or is it basically aimed at kids and youngsters?

Oh...it's definitely for adults! Maybe not True Blood adults, but not for youngsters. I mean, it's network TV but from what I understand they push it. Adult/young adult? But not kids. I've only seen one episode.

I see, thanks. THE 100 also has that adult/young adult target audience, and I love that show, so maybe in similar territory?

Well I'm not familiar with The 100 so I can't comment on that. I do know the promos for The Magicians played up the sexuality of the show quite a bit. The episode I saw didn't feature that but I could see that. It's certainly nothing at all like Harry Potter, anyway. I would maybe even guess it has a darker quality than Supernatural, but again that's a bit of a guess.
