Thomas, id be interestd to hear the new Enigma album - for me, sadly after that first album, which was unique coz it had a kinda French/latin/medieval feel, with the flute and chanting and heavy panting woman - the one with Sadeness, rivers of belief, mea culpa, was just superb. Following albums went mostly more pop style, less instrumental, with that male singing, simply wasnt as original and unusual. They tweaked the style for the worst i thought. Couple tracks on every album were great tho.

FB, what's the new ENIGMA album like? I just heard through ut for the first time. I wasn't particularly impressed, I have to say that. No songs that I immediately wanted to play again when the album finished. But not bad stuff, and hopefully it will grow somewhat.

Couple tracks on every album were great tho. I think the weakest albums are Seven Lives Many Faces and Voyageur, and maybe the new one. The first 4 ones (MCMXC, Cross Of Changes, Le Roi Est Mort, Screen Behind The Mirror) are good, and I think A Posteriori is good too.

Mcmxc was the one i was talking about, fb. They established a very impressive distinctive style - creating the best chill-out shag CD ever - then promptly changed it to incorporate more male vocal, which seemed more predictable, like they had sold out a bit. Mixed in among them was some very good tracks - more instrumental or nominal vocals - which was similar to that first style. I think i agree with your assessment, the first few albums were the best - the later ones i borrowed i found less tracks i liked.

Its the white cover, green blob, may have been their first album. Kinda eclectic mix of african chanting and baby noises ! Not quite Enigma level but chillin n calming.

Deep forest, i lost mine so had to re-get it. Have missed it. Great band. They just released a new album, EVO-DEVO, but looks like it's sold out already. Crap distribution on it. They are totally out of the hit lists now, a quarter of a century after Sweet Lullaby.
