Thor, I'm just following up on an earlier recommendation I gave you for SALEM. Just curious to see if you've had the opportunity yet to catch this yet or not. Truly, one of the better horror series on tv. imho of course.

I did, and I'm afraid it didn't quite grab me. Felt a bit 'cheesy' and not particularly scary. Maybe it was the time and place, I don't know. I'd be willing to give it another shot.

Added last year's ASH VS. EVIL DEAD to the list, and am surprised no one has mentioned it yet. Yes, it's a bit heavy on the 'comedy' side to truly fit in with the criteria, but there's enough horror stuff to counter that.

I gave up on STAR TREK VOYAGER. Borinnggggggggggggg.
The luscious 7 of 9 kept me watching for a while (usually with the sound off and subtitles on)
but she is no Jolene Blalock.

I seem to be the only TREK fan who really liked ENTERPRISE.
Give it another chance - at least its not a retread of TOS.

Oh, I finished the first season awhile back. Loved it, as I mentioned a few posts up.

I'm currently working my way through the first season of PERSON OF INTEREST, but it's veeeeery sluggish. The season has far too many episodes, and each one is a new 'crime case of the week' with nothing to connect them (which I don't care for). Very little in terms of story arc. So I'm tempted to let this one go. Does it get any better in the next seasons? More of a 'story arc', perhaps even more of a sci fi element?

SOSAYWELL, you recommended this to me. Any thoughts?

Oh, well....no response (I'm mostly talking to myself in this thread anyway). I'm going to give the second season of POI a chance.

Finished the first season of OUTCAST. It started somewhat feebly (certainly not on the same intense level as Kirkman's THE WALKING DEAD), but got a bit better towards the end. At first, I thought Brent Spiner's "demon lord" character was a bit too friendly, but his mild demeanour got more subversive as it went along. Interesting casting choice.

Sorry can't comment on Person of Interest, Thor -- although I do have it in line as one of a few shows I plan on beginning to watch very soon. I already have bought the first season on DVD and it's sitting on my shelf next to the first season of The Killing (which I'll probably watch first).

This thread is too long to search through, but can anyone offer any opinions on Penny Dreadful? A friend at work recommended it. Not that I can work it into the slate of shows I have ahead of me, but I was curious.

Yeah, we've been discussing PENNY DREADFUL quite a bit earlier in this thread. I've seen the whole show, and loved it (esp. from season 2 onwards). Too bad it had such a relatively rushed ending. Just as it was finding its steam, it ended. But at least it DID have an end, unlike most shows these days.

"Penny Dreadful" reached a dead end.

Best recent series involving dead people, "River."

Anyone seen "The Tunnel"?

How many seasons were there? I didn't realize it had ended. I think I heard there were 5 seasons. What channel did it air on?

Thanks for the info, I may add it to my list (where in the queue, who knows...)!

Three (27 episodes), and it's all on Netflix currently.

I've not seen THE TUNNEL (I believe it's a remake of the Swedish/Danish hit show THE BRIDGE), nor RIVER, but these are both more like 'crime shows', right? I'm not usually a big fan of crime shows -- unless there is some paranormal or "off" bent to it, like TWIN PEAKS or TRUE DETECTIVE.

I'm quickly losing interest in MR. ROBOT this season. First of all, there was too much time between season 1 and 2, so I had forgotten most of the plotlines and characters. Also, the second season is too complicated for its own good. Lastly, I'm getting tired of all the apathetic faces and empty stares. Yes, we get it. Enough already, move ON! (I also hate "stoner" movies, so that probably accounts for some of my annoyance here).

The second season of PERSON OF INTEREST is also proving disappointing. End of first season and beginning of second showed some promise -- at least a story ARC -- but now it's back to 'case of the week', which I absolutely detest. You can't DO that once you've moved the level up to 'arc'!

Similarly, the second season of KILLJOYS is too complicated, too quick and hurried and not very engrossing.

But DARK MATTER, THE LAST SHIP and FEAR THE WALKING DEAD deliver their goods. Still, all of these are nearing their season ends, so I need a new show soon. The other shows I like won't return untill the end of September.

I am enjoying it.

One question: who was the guy working for Tyrell's wife and what was he doing ?

thanks!

I have no clue about that or anything else, really. Who's Tyrell?

I think the only way I could make heads and tails of this show is if I re-watched the first season, and then continued immediately with season 2 -- WITH subtitles and paying extra attention at every corner.

It was mentioned earlier in the thread. I checked out the first episode, but found it rather corny and like a relic from the 90s. Not scary at all. So I jumped off. Maybe I should try again.
