You might be right Piccioni's L'assassino seems to be selling very well so far.

If there 300 copies, its common sense to buy them with-in the 1st week of release, I never miss 300 if its my taste.

As you can see for yourself on the Quartet website, all the Italian titles which were released this year and which were limited to 300 copies are still available there:
http://www.quartetrecords.com/cd-catalogue.html

And this despite the fact that Quartet has become a very popular label - more popular than smaller ones - among collectors worldwide above all thanks to their releases of US titles which are of course always much in demand.

That is great if you are buying many titles regularly but if there is only one that you really don't want to miss out on the postage cost can work out at half the price of the cd and the exchange rates already make it high enough as it is.

Quartet have now 75 copies of L'ssassino Left they sold 50 copies a few days ago maybe SAE put another order in.
Rogopag 52 left
Io, Emmanuelle 226 left

Have just placed my order:
L'ssassino
Rogopag
The Statue (48 left)

Yes that's the chance you take on some film genres. 300 at the moment look safe with the current market. However, if they do go OOP then postage before seems sensible even for just 1 cd.

Here's hoping that a purple monkey mail carrier has delivered L'assassino to the purple monkey dishwasher.

During the meantime, Digitmovies has now designated Fatevi Vivi as being "Sold Out".

Have all of us Piccioni fans got our copies of this Henry Silva Poliziesco?

2010 ... 2017 I wonder how limited Fatevi Vivi was, maybe 1000?

The Scicilian mafia are a primal blend of badass evil tribal/gangster types just like on TV with Folco Quilici's Dawn of Man. Which came first, L'ALBA DELL'UOMO or KIDNAP?

I quite liked Fativa Vivi... (which I see is still available at the moment on Amazon UK).

The score leans more towards suspense music than anything else and perhaps is a bit more subtle - and less jazzy and relentlessly upbeat and showy - than many Italian police scores of that time.

It relies heavily on a couple of themes which are reused throughout, so it does get a little repetitive as it goes on; I suppose that's the downside of an hour's running time.

They draw comparisons between the score and the one written for the Tony Curtis/Roger Moore series The Persuaders! - but to be honest I couldn't really see it myself.

Dusty Groove lists for sale @ $70 a SEALED LP of I Tre Volti on RCA.
In my 20+ years of collecting Piccioni discs, I don't recall ever encountering a still-unsealed LP (unless this is a new vinyl edition which reproduces the LP program of the album without any of the bonus score tracks from the 2014 Legend CD).

[The image, by the way, is not a scan of the RCA Italiana but merely a re-posting of the Legend CD cover]

Piccioni enthusiasts, I have just received an email from Digitmovies HQ, there is a Piccioni due for release titled Scusi, Lei รจ favorevole o contrario, which was translated to EXCUSE ME, ARE YOU IN FAVOR OR IN REVERSE?. I think this is slint's bag from a first glance. I'm concerned I saw Sordi mentioned, this could mean I'm in the reverse.

This is the second CD relese of this Piccioni score. The first one was on the Japanese Avanz label in 1998 and already had 60 minutes of music:
http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/title/20514/Scusi%2C+Lei+%E8+Favorevole+O+Contrario%3F

Soundwise there were a few problems on some tracks of the Avanz CD. It could be that they have been restored now for this new version.
This is a very ear-catching, partly nostalgic, partly upbeat Piccioni score with inspired themes. Very enjoyable stuff.

I have the Avanz CD so I'll need to check if there are any alternative tracks first. Indeed one of my favourite Piccioni CD. Samba and lounge influenced!

There are about 12 minutes more music on the Digit CD. However, the track titles are for the most part completely different from the ones on the Avanz CD which at the moment makes a comparison difficult.
The Avanz CD had also packed the alternate cues into two suites (track 21 and 22). These suites have been taken apart for the new CD version. And the gypsy music (track 7 on Avanz) has now a duration of almost 10 minutes and has apparently been spread out over three tracks (4-6: "La festa Tzigana").

Hope all interested parties got their CDs - it's not that frequently that a Piccioni album sells out in less than 5 months from release.

I hope so too. This is a great album. Solid, low-key, small-group crime-jazz that's still identifiably Piccioni. It reminds me a bit of THE HUSTLER. I love it.

2017 turned out to be a year which offered us Piccioni consumers a long-overdue focus on Piero's early 1960s 'peak' period prior to the domination of the Ennio Morricone aural blueprints which influenced the late-'60s onward.

February 28, 2017

Toto' Diabolicus (1962) on Digitmovies

July 17, 2017

L'assassino (1961) on Quartet

December 8, 2017

I Dolci Inganni (1960) on Saimel

Le Coppie released from GDM... as lossy Itunes only files! What an insult to collectors. I had emailed GDM a long time ago about that. It would be so easy for them to add a lossless option, but I guess they don't care at all about their customers. Maybe time to find a new hobby...

- LA NOTTE BRAVA
- MONDO DI NOTTE (1 + 2)
- I DOLCI INGANNI on Saimel
- LA VIACCIA on Saimel
- L'ASSASSINO on Quartet
- LE SVEDESI
- MANI IN ALTO
- IL GIORNO PIU' CORTO
- TRE PER UNA RAPINA
- GIOVINEZZA GIOVINEZZA on Beat

And SOOO many amazing CDs to buy for a Piccioni newb! Le Monache hooked me, now I'm all the way in, such an excellent, imaginative film composer.
