And surely you must have, somewhere in that vast collection of yours, a copy of "Love Me Do" by The Beatles(?).

That would be a prime example of why I hate harmonicas.

Should Onya ever be incarcerated, his attorney has been instructed to have a harpsichord moved into the cell, so that Onya may mournfully play "Please Release Me (Let Me Go)" on a "proper" jailhouse instrument.

107) Jenkwombat and Octoberman in "Hallelujah!!!!! Charles Manson Finally Dead!":

Jenkwombat: "Yeah, we're bloodthirsty. Not the guy who had his henchmen and women carve up a pregnant woman and others and write "Piggies" and "Helter Skelter" on the wall in their blood. It's us who have the problem. roll eyes"

Octoberman: "You can't blame people for wanting to vent.
And I'm talking about normal people who manage to get through the day without butchering others.

Not to mention that this is a man who spent the last 50 years not showing one whit of remorse for what he did.
In fact, all of his reflections since then demonstrated the same casual contempt for both his victims and society in general.

If that makes him mentally ill, and therefore outside of any judgement we may confer upon him, then I think that the fact that the financial expense of letting him continue to live out his days in relative comfort was a burden that we all shouldered has to say something about our capacity for mercy.
But it doesn't mean that everyone had to like it."

OnyaBirri basically calling John Williams most beloved and popular scoring period, “corny grand orchestral themes.” In the Netflix Lost In Space thread. In fairness he did not mention John Williams, but this is the kind of music he's referencing. (Minus the corny part IMHO)

Fantastic production values and score.

So the score is better than the lame-ass opening theme music?

Though based on your postings you don't seem to care for anything past the mid 70's. So probably isn't something you would like. I agree the opening theme is lame.

No, I just don't like corny grand orchestral themes. There have been scores since the mid-70s that take a different approach.

That's what I call Balls of Fury! big grin I don't know if I should laugh or cry. confused

Jimbo
This little gem from richard-w in the Jaws lll thread has gotta go in for consideration.

This is a stupid idiotic thread which reflects badly on Film Score Monthly. No wonder so many people left the forum, with threads like this allowed to continue. No more of this!

FSM used to be a place for intelligent discourse. The website owners will be well-advised to instruct the moderator to delete this thread and others like it

109) OnyaBirri in "John Williams is the Heart & Soul of Star W_rs":

Tom Maguire: "I think his place in the history of *music* will be set along side the likes of Wagner, Beethoven and Mozart."

OnyaBirri: "If you say so."

110) Deceased FSMer OnlyGoodMusic generalizing cartoon characters and Americans' taste in "Tarantino Says Batman is Not Very Interesting":

"NONE of these cartoon characters are interesting. They're cartoon characters, for Christ's sake. Now I know, Superman, Batman and Thor are to the Americans what Shakespeare, Moliere and Tchechov are to the rest of the world, but still."

The US is second to none when it comes to playwrights. We produced Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, Eugene O'Neill, William Inge, Edward Albee, Thornton Wilder, Clifford Odets, Langston Hughes, Neil Simon, and David Mamet.

111) catboy19 vs. Joe 1956 in the (get well) "RON PULLIAM" thread.

The set up: After numerous posts from FSM well wishers for Ron to get better, there was this:

Catboy19: "i dont get it why the popularity of one guy?"

Joe 1956: "What kind of stupid fucking question is that? I don't know the man at all, but I can still cheer for him to make one more day."

(And for the record, I have the same thing - congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and dextrocardia, where the heart is pointed more to the right side. Nothing wrong with a little empathy either, okay?).

Catboy19: "chillax man if i want to ask a stupid fucking question i will thats how one gets smarter in life :-)

112) Yours Truly in "When Did Star Wars Jump the Shark?":

"Yes, The Phantom Menace is great! Well, except for Jake Lloyd, Jar Jar Binks, that interminable pod race, wooden acting from all concerned, and the fact that the guy in the theater sitting in front of me wearing the baseball cap turned around about a dozen times because his girlfriend had walked out to drop some ammonia just seconds before the big "Duel of the Fates" cue started up in the "big" lightsaber fight between Neeson, Ewan, and Darth Maul. Even (the promise of) that scene was awful thanks to that dope.

I never bothered with the other two films. I did, however, see a brief bit on TV once where Yoda was speaking in the passive voice while giving orders. It must have been the second movie."
