Moving on, I have an Amazon story to share. About 2 years ago I contacted a seller about a very expensive soundtrack with a question about the condition of the liner notes. I expressed how much I had enjoyed the music when I had seen the movie years before. Well, to my surprise, the seller contacted me, answered my question and offered to take $30.00 off the price of the item. I was in shock. The seller told me to reply to their email and as soon as they received the reply, the price would be lowered. I was almost giddy with anticipation while waiting for the price to change. It took a little time but I grabbed it when it came up with the lower price. I received the item and it was indeed in pristine shape. I think I used up all the characters in leaving feedback for this seller. This seller could have easily gotten the higher price for the item. Truly nice thing to do. What was the soundtrack? Shaun, it was When The Whales Came. I looked back at my Amazon purchase history and it actually only a year ago that this seller did this kind thing. I remember waiting for the item to come in the mail and how afraid I was that it would get damaged in shipment. It arrived in brand new condition. I put in a ridiculous cover bid on eSnipe and wound up the only bidder at $9.99. This was a 15 minute promotional disc. I bid quite a bit of money - around $70 I believe - but didn't win. And I'm glad I didn't. Because just before bidding ended, Young's assistant, Samantha Barker, contacted me and basically said, "Hey - we will gladly send you a copy of this CD for free!". THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER was great, and the CREEPSHOW vinyl album was boss. But as someone who has, on occasion, defended YOR: THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE and Mr. Thaxton, I have to say they've probably earned the right to be truculent, just not insulting. Let's indulge Ford to some degree. I'd had the LP but not the CD. I listed The Pirate Movie with Kristy McNichol on eBay as near mint condition. I was quite surprised as several bidders expressed interest. Final price was over $300.00 and I was elated, but then realized that the high bidder was probably not going to pay such a ridiculous price. Much to my surprise, he did honor the final bid. But, I am still confused to this day... why? On the flip side of that...I bought a copy of that film from an Amazon seller. Very good condition he claimed with a price of $20. Guess I should have known better. What I got was a messed up former rental copy. Scratched, inlay bent, argh. Filed a claim and got a refund because the seller wouldn't reply back to me. With Amazon, listed items stay there until sold or until the seller removes the listing ... ... and a few years ago I decided on a de-clutter. Such items included DVDs of Ennio Morricone concerts since I rarely/don't play them (my hi-fi system is better than my AV set-up). Last month I had a buyer for the DVD Morricone conducts Morricone which hadn't been played for 5 years so I put it on to play to check it was still playable. Only to find that I enjoyed listening to the few snippets I heard ... ... so I checked out Amazon to see if there was a CD release available (such as with his Arena Concerto). Yes, there was ... rather expensive in comparison. But there was also a new release of the DVD which was selling at about a quarter of my selling price ... so I opted to buy it. A cheaper insert, etc. but the disc contains the same concert (same 5.1 DTS sound). So I have replaced the DVD and pocketed a few quid. "King Kong Jungle Noises" ???? Ray, was this Steiner's music? jungle sound effects? dialog? etc. In any event looks really cool.
