The original poster says that he has barely listened recently to many of the records in his collection which he has amassed over 50 years.
Yet the first response says he should get an external drive and archive them there.
What is the point of this? He would spend hours and hours doing this and never listen to them there either, duh!
This reminds me of years and years ago when I used to dub soundtracks on to cassette tapes from movies which I had recorded with a reel-to-reel off TV, editing out all the non-musical parts. This would take HOURS and HOURS, so much so that by the time I was finished with this, I would be sick of the whole thing and I would never listen to this music again on the cassette tape EVER.
As far as selling your LP treasures is concerned, this is far too much hassle for what it's worth these days, considering the exorbitant postage rates (especially for overseas) and the "rules" you have to abide by if you are selling them on some place like Ebay or Amazon.
If I took things I wanted to get rid of to a local LP record store here in Vancouver (of which there are several), the people working there have even less knowledge about soundtracks than they do about classical music. You would be lucky to get a dollar each. I tried to sell some classical LPs once on Craigslist and people would e-mail me typical moronic Craigslist responses, saying "I'll give you 25 cents each for them if there are no scratches," and "Can you make a list of these for me?" (Yeah, like I would spend hours making a list if I am going to sell them for a dollar or less each!)
Eventually, I just gave away about 300 LPs (classical, not soundtracks) on Craigslist by putting them in the "free" section. Most of these were of no significant value whatsoever, they had been given to me by a friend who wanted me to sell them for him, which I obviously could not do. Some woman showed up and took them all away in her dinky car, saying her boyfriend was "really into vinyl." I told her, "You came to the right place."

I'm truly amazed by all the interest this post has generated and by all the replies
I've begun my lists and initially I will be concentrating on the "big 10". Barry, Bernstein, Goldsmith, Herrmann, Rozsa, Steiner, Tiomkin, North, Waxman and Williams. However not everything I have by these masters will be included I will have to be very selective. There will be some notable exemptions, no Zimmer ( I don't have any anyway) I'm not enthused by much Morricone but I will include some 'one offs'. Carl Davis "King David", David Lee "The Masque of the Red Death" and Stephen Oliver "Lady Jane". I must also include some Brinislau Kaper and some Fernando Velasquez ( he's about the only one of today's composers I can tolerate).
To all those who've expressed an interest in what I've got I have your details and will get back to you shortly.
