Stefan,

As you know, I'm a big fan of Italian sword-and-sandal (peplum) scores, and I was cataloging my CDs/LPs, and here's what I came up with. Do you know of other releases in this genre?

I know some of these (like Nascimbene's and some others') are more historical/biblical in nature, but since they were Italian composers writing this music back in the sixties when all the peplums were coming out, I included them. I'm leaving out more modern films like Donaggio's HERCULES and American films scored by non-Italians (like Les Baxter):

CICOGNINI:
Ulysses

DE MASI:
Toto Contro Maciste
Il Figlio Dello Sceicco
Solimano Il Conquistatore
Maciste L'Eroe Piu Grande Del Mondo
Maciste Nelle Miniere Del Re Salomone
La Rivolta Delle Gladiatrici
Seven Slaves Against Rome
La Vendetta Di Spartacus

FUSCO:
La Guerra Di Troia
La Leggenda Di Enea

LAVAGNINO:
Last Days Of Pompei
Saffo Venere di Lesbo

LAVAGNINO/NICOLOSI:
Ester E Il Re (Ester the King)

MARINUZZI:
Hercules and the Captive Women

MASETTI:
Hercules
Hercules Unchained

NASCIMBENE:
Alexander the Great
Barrabas
Constantine And The Cross
Carthage En Flammes
Solomon And Sheba
Joseph And His Brethren
The Vikings

NICOLOSI:
The White Warrior
Gli Invasori (Erik the Conqueror)
Roma Contro Roma

ORTOLANI:
Ursus Nella Valle Dei

PICCIONI:
Duel Of The Titans (Romolo E Remo)
Il Figlio Di Spartacus

RUSTICELLI:
Arrivano I Titani
The Thief Of Bagdad

SAVINA:
Ursus Nella Terra Di Fuoco

TROVAJOLI:
Hercules in the Haunted World (Ercole al Centro Della Terra)

USUELLI:
Saul E David

VLAD: Ursus

And to go off-topic on a topic that was already off-topic, do you know anything about the CD called: "A Symphonic Tribute To Alberto Sordi?" I have never seen it listed or sold anywhere, and it apparently contains some otherwise-unavailable Lavagnino music. Here's one of only two places I've ever seen it mentioned on the web:

Yes, I saw the review earlier today, and although the reviewer loved THE BLOB, he apparently thought it was a re-recording, despite our prominent PR material as well as other things. If we did re-record it, then we did a lousy job because we re-recorded it in mono!

Still, I'm very happy the reviewer liked our CD so much -- that's always good news -- especially on a rainy southern California day like today.

This is a Great time to enjoy the Monstrous Movie Music release of the 1958 cult classic "The Blob".

This CD also has some great "library" cues from other "cult" films!

A treasure!
