While I usually hate sound effects and voice overs on my soundtracks I have to say, 1941 is the exception. I have heard the isolated 1941 score and I think its missing a lot of charm without those explosion sound effects on the score. And I love john belushi's laugh at the end of the CD!

While I would welcome a remastered extended score I hope they include the original album version on it as well.

(See The Blues Brothers as another example, though that film is truly funny at times).

--That reminds me, legend has it . . .

. . . before "The Blues Brothers" came out and became a huge hit . . .

. . . industry insiders had already given it a cynical nickname:

"1942."

But wasn't it also in reference to a planned sequel? I thought it was in a trailer spoken by Dan Aykroyd???? I thought it went something along the lines of "If you enjoyed 1941, you'll LOVE 1942."

HELP please, where is that from? I looked on the DVD and couldn't find it anywhere. frown

Incidentally, looking at the trailers I was amazed at how good they were. There were 3 on the dvd. The first one was a straight monologue by John Belushi with flying stunts and it was hysterical. Neat tidbit that "Wild Bill Kelso's" name was originally "Wild 'Wayne' Kelso". The second trailer will appeal to the 'special effects' lovers. And the third one will appeal to the 'slapstick' lovers.smile

I think you might be remembering Aykroyd's final line in the film.

Sergeant Frank Tree: You know, this year wasn't the big year of the war, '41. I think the really big year is going to be 1942.

Major General Joseph W. Stillwell: [sighs] It's gonna be a long war.

Having just been listening the the CD again and the version on the Williams on Williams album, I can't express how much I enjoy this music (and to be honest the movie, it's misses the mark sometimes but it always males me smile. Didn't realise the deluxe edition had a UK release finally, I've had it on R1 for so long).

Bombastic & fun and really in need of an expanded release, though if they do please keep the sound effects on the endtitles they really work for that track.
