I do remember an eleventh season score by Fred Steiner that was pretty cute - I believe it was called, "The Bark and The Bite"...:-)
You don't have to include everything in a boxset. I do like 2 scores by Cacavas (at least some cues). But some scores for seasons 11 & 12 were not, let's stay poilte, between the bests. Including Drasnin in the lot.

Nobody here would cast out a 5-O music afficianado. And you're right about Stevens, Shores, Broughton and Ray too....
Of course, first we have to find out which label might tackle (or be tackling?) such a project. I'm sure somebody must be having a go at it....
Sonic Armchair Travelogue from RRA - Hawaii Five-0
I tried to post this last night to no avail. I'm currently listening to the new LALALAND Hell's Belles as I attempt once again to post my love letter to Mort Stevens/FSM... 9/16/2010 "Call to Danger" sounded so good I played it again. In my mind I just went for it - I made my descent upon a sharp rock cliff down to the breaking ocean water where I spied a multi-cd set of a new FSM spy/adventure/action music collection that I just had to have. Somehow I made it back to the top. Where did I find the strength to climb that rope? I have terrible upper body strength. I feel better now. Maybe it was the sight of that beautiful gal who was walking back to the outdoor hotel bar. All I know is, "McGarrett's theme" is playing and this cd reissue of Mort Stevens is pure bliss. The weather is beautiful and the sun is shining. The big band is playing and I could swear I saw Wo Fat laughing at me and I turned my head and there was Steve behind a parked car giving the evil eye back. I'm signing off now because this frozen pineapple drink is making me sleepy......." Beach Trip" is playing now and I see a dancing tiki waving at me to come closer to the water......how did it become night so quickly?......"The Chase" just finished and I'm going to start it over again from the beginning. Mahalo, brotha'... (Thank you Lukas and FSM for releasing this HF-0 Mort Stevens cd. To quote Oliver Twist "please sir, I want some more..")
I got mine today, and as expected, the sound quality is great; it blows the recent download version out of the water, that's for sure. And, of course, with the added bonus of decent liner notes.
Finally, one of the great 'half hour' albums gets the CD release it deserves, with a bit added-on for extra value. Can't go wrong.

"I got my CD yesterday, and I'm not sure it's legitimate. The only company logo is SAE, the company that sells them. There is no reference to Columbia Records or CBS or Paramount. I'm returning mine."

This guy DOES NOT know what he's talking about - all he has to do is get better glasses and read the liner notes again!
I received my CD in the mail on Friday - all I can say is, WOW!...a great release of my very first soundtrack LP and it truly did get the treatment this music deserved - the sound is just great and the liner notes are outstanding - Mort Stevens would be proud.

Five-O was the first soundtrack album I ever got. I noticed iTunes has it, but I've ordered the FSM CD anyway. I have fond memories of the album but it's the tip of the iceberg in terms of the great music heard over the 12 seasons of the series. Hopefully, sales are good enough that more music from the series can be made available, similar to the great UNCLE releases. Thank you FSM.

Alas, if a series of Five-O scores is coming from somewhere, it would appear that FSM won't be the releasing label. Lukas said not so long ago that they had been unable to licence the original scores
Hopefully though, that means that another label might have.

I've been waiting for this re-issue for over 2 1/2 decades. Thank you-thank-you-thank-you for bringing back to me the thrill and chill of the very first soundtrack album I ever owned!

All fans of crime jazz, funk, bossa nova, go-go rock, and of course, the TV series, need to have this CD in their collection. I can't wait to go for a drive along the coast on a sunny day with this soundtrack blaring through the speakers.
I was listening to this great CD again and was wondering how it is selling - I would think that with the new FIVE-0 being such a huge hit, there would be a big demand for this music. Also, the DVD sets of the original show are still selling well.
I won't give up on a possible box set of the original scores - with Lukas having this great relationship with CBS now, I say anything is possible...:-)
