Hi ! Holly, It is amazing!!! I watched "Saru no Gundan" on TV in Japan when I was school boy!
How did you know "Saru no Gundan" ?

Aloha Hitoshi!

Joshua picked it up on a whim...I sure wish we would've grown up with the series...sigh. I hope that when we visit Japan, we can pick up some of these series (not to mention soundtracks!) that are not available in the states. Or cost an arm and a leg to acquire as imports!

Now Playing the Chojin Barom-1 soundtrack CD:

Hey Rob. No, I haven't heard any of those yet, but I knew as soon as I saw the cover art on the PRISON GATE ISLAND CD that it is something very special and that we'd have to have it.

Regarding SARU NO GUNDAN...

Hi Josh, thanks for all the information regarding Time of the Apes...very interesting. Yes, we seem to be similar when it comes to "CD front artwork"...I sometimes see a CD cover as well and think...I gotta have that! A perfect example of that is this rare Columbia "Best of" Kosuke Kindaichi CD from 1996...

The thing is, I had kept seeing many of the original SLC Kosuke Kindaichi CDs that are featured on the front cover of this Columbia CD, but never took the plunge and bought any of them because I had assumed that these soundtracks probably contained horror music that wouldn't be nice to listen to. I even saw an original sealed copy of the Prison Gate Island soundtrack CD (SLC version, 1993) in a store in NYC many years ago (it was roughly $38.99), but I passed on it (what a mistake!). Eventually, I noticed this Columbia CD and I said...THAT'S IT...I want that one! smile The only problem was ...it cost me a small fortune to acquire it, but luckily, my instincts paid off because once I heard it I discovered that the music was fantastic and actually makes for a wonderful stand alone listen!

Usually though, I try to do my homework first and find sound samples before I purchase a CD soundtrack that I know nothing about, but that was not the case with the Columbia Kindaichi CD. As for Time of the Apes though, since the price isn't so high, I would probably buy it without hearing anything first.

After hearing the main title music from that Youtube video you sent, I can definitely say that Jerry Goldsmith's incredible score to PLANET OF THE APES is still safe...! smile
