IMO, if a Facebook page created asking Bryan Singer to follow through with his (then planned) Director's cut & enough people were interested, an expanded soundtrack would be almost guaranteed. I had heard he had about another hour or more of scenes to add. If there's music to those scenes somewhere that would be awesome!
Ottman's work for the film brought a great deal of versimilitude to the saga in the same vein as that of the original. I loved the fact that musicaly the themes were evolved and saturated with the modern setting. I was glad that the comical Otis/Luthor theme was discarded and a more dramatic motive was used. The movie came out as more soft and clean to me but the solid score really cements it. I hope we get a complete expanded set someday from the label that does superheroes in a superly fashion

On the disc there is a quicktime video where Singer talks about Ottman and his two hours of score. If that is not an exaggeration that would be a score for pretty much the entire film. Would be terrific to have it on CD.
Wish I could find the old Kaplan Bros. podcast about this score. They perfectly captured practically all my reservations about what Ottman did, illustrated thoroughly with audio examples.
I particularly enjoyed their demonstration of how Ottman's reharmonization of Williams' love theme turned it into something much closer to "Louie, Louie" than anything Williams himself would ever have written.
What happened to it?
I thought the arguments in that podcast were a load of rubbish really.
I prefer Ottman's harmonization to Williams', and I believe they picked on some temp-tracking, which, guess what, other composers do too!
