Looks like Mark Isham has been added to the already impressive line up of conductors/composers who will be there celebrating VS's 35th Ann.!

Thanks Peter! Looks like there soon will be one conductor for everybody in the audience!

This looks like a great event....a bit like the concerts they've held at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent over the years (which I've been fortunate to attend three times).

...and THAT is one concert I have to get to before I die!

But so far Townson looks like he is actually is trying to do an equivalent of that Hollywood Bowl one from 1963. In that one practically every Hollywood composer around did his own work. But there were a handful that were conducted by John Green and others. We have 6 weeks of announcements left and I am already impressed.

Glad to see the Box set will be available for purchase. Hopefully folks can get it signed as well at this years Fans of Film Music in October!

Varèse Sarabande’s 35th Anniversary will be our biggest celebration yet! Historic in scope, we kick things off with this epic 4CD set of extraordinary film music.

Continuing our series of anniversary film music compilations, we have produced a blockbuster to celebrate our 35th. There is no duplication here. For our 35th anniversary we look back at our greatest releases over the last five years. And being the biggest and most prolific film music record label in the world, that meant we had over 250 soundtracks to choose from!

Averaging over 60 new soundtrack releases a year, Varèse Sarabande’s catalog features virtually every great name in film music. A list of just a few of the composers included here includes the late Jerry Goldsmith, along with Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, John Powell, Danny Elfman, Thomas Newman, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, Mark Isham, Ramin Djawadi, Patrick Doyle, James Horner, Mychael Danna, Michael Giacchino, John Debney, Marco Beltrami, Gabriel Yared, Brian Tyler and many more!

• Included are cues from such blockbusters as Star Trek, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Kung Fu Panda 2, I Am Legend and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes …
• Critically acclaimed films such as Another Year, The Ghost Writer, The Ides Of March and Frost/Nixon …
• Academy Award nominees such as The Help, The Last Station, Albert Nobbs, The Visitor and How To Train Your Dragon …
• Beloved animated movies like Rise Of The Guardians, Rio, The Lorax, and Horton Hears A Who …
• Family classics such as Hop, Dolphin Tale, Big Miracle, Nim’s Island …
• Action blockbusters like Fast & Furious, G.I. Joe: The Rise Of COBRA, Cowboys & Aliens, Knight & Day, Battleship …
• Celebrated television productions such as Game Of Thrones, True Blood, Mildred Pierce, Grey Gardens, The Tudors, Too Big To Fail …
• Stunning new performances of Alex North’s Love Theme From Spartacus by Dave Grusin and Jerry Goldsmith’s Sum Of All Fears performed in Tenerife …
• Also included are some truly wonderful scores from some films you might have missed completely.
• 4 CDs priced for little more than a single — it’s almost a giveaway!

Over five hours of great film music is included!!

So far we have 5 composers listed above conducting. The rest of the names are getting into some pretty golden areas. I get pretty excited with each one.

Stanley Kramer told the story about how few comdians wanted to be a part of his epic comedy IT'S A MAD MAD WORLD. Once he signed Spencer Tracy the names trickled in and a momentum bulit. By the time the production started he had comedy giants that he never would have been able to afford like Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope and Jack Benny calling him just wanting to be a part of it. (Hope couldn't be fit in) With Danny Elfman added on for this event what are the odds this great concert having this sort of momentum?

Wow, that's cool. It's beginning to rival Ghent's 2010 concert, which featured Howard Shore, Elliot Goldenthal, Gabriel Yared, Gustavo Santaolalla, Stephen Warbeck, Angelo Badalamenti, Craig Armstrong, Alberto Iglesias, Bruno Coulais and Nico Muhly. Among others.

Hopefully some peer pressure will get to some of the big wigs and they'll be like, MAN I need to do this since everyone else is smile

Morricone knows my situation and if you all knew what I'm going through and I'm still making it there, you'd probably be shocked beyond belief. If I can make it, then anyone can smile TRUST me on that one. I'm excited to be able to go and enjoy the great music and see some of my musical idols. This should be THE event of our generation. Get a ticket and go, if not you will be kicking yourself later on when we are all telling our stories of the night the days after.
