Got this my self (and on Flag Day, ironic given the patriotic themes of the film). I agree, the album version of the main titles is the better version. I'm definitely enjoying this release, but it doesn't quite work as a listening experience. I think the OST was a good presentation from a listening perspective. There are some gems not on the OST however, such as the finale.

Yawn. Tired? Well then get in your Spiderman jammies, lay your sweet head down and close your eyes, little baby.

Did anyone else notice that the synth line is missing from "Second Hand Copter"? It seems to be in the film though. Weird. Great release though!

I ordered this...you mean to tell me that something is missing? Most interesting.

I ordered this...you mean to tell me that something is missing? Most interesting. Yes, the synth line from "Second Hand Copter" and some anvil hits at the end of "Ambush" are missing. The alternate film ending of "The Laser-Guided Missile" remains unreleased, too. Special thanks to Mink for the additional info! The new stuff outweighs the missing parts of course, but I guess completists should hold on to their Milan CDs.

So that synth line and the anvil hits are on the Milan CD you say? Any other tracks that are different on the Milan CD as compared to the Intrada? Not that I have noticed so far. "The Laser-Guided Missile" is slightly longer on the Intrada release, because it had been originally edited down for the OST. The passage that contributes "Escobedo's New Friend, Part 2" was also edited down on the Milan release.

Its been many many years since I've seen this film (or read the books for that matter). How is the music? It's an eclectic score. It varies from full blown orchestral splendor, to synth with the sukuukukuatchi (or whatever) , and low suspense or dark pieces. It's probably the most varied Horner score I've heard, mostly because the film is a kind of mash up of the action genre and paranoid thriller. For my personal taste, I prefer the livelier stuff and there's very little here that I enjoy which wasn't on the Milan album - with the HUGE exception of the action finale. Those are amazing, some of Horner's best action writing and for those alone (and the improved sound), it was worth the purchase. My own edit is more of a "Milan album with the finale" and the film version of the theme.

I am wondering : why some of you complained about Lalaland with The challenge and not Intrada with Clear and present danger? Is it not the same problem? ... Because Jerry Goldsmith was a megagenius who used an everyday cooking implement in a brilliant and inventive way and James Horner plugged in a keyboard?
