Bruce, Can you say at this point how well the cd is selling?

I hope it is selling well, can't get enough Alfred Newman! smile

It's sold about 750-ish so far, which is fine.

That's good to hear Bruce. Very glad it's selling so well and it's only been for sale 3 days!

Can't wait to hear it.

I too am a Newmaniac! smile

Well.....I'll certainly join the club and confirm I'M a NEWMANiac!

And though I'm old, I'm still a YOUNG-ster too,
and I drink-in film music at the AMFITHEATROF.

Golden Age film music is amb-ROZSA to me,
I'm brave enough to say I'm a STOTHART-ed man,
and I'm a KAPER-ed Crusader for the best in classic film scores.

Stick a needle in me and RAKSIN-ate me against movie music and it won't take;
There's no PREVIN-tative to keep me away from film melodies.

The drinks are on me---it's a FRIEDHOFER---no cost whatever!
So let's lift a STEIN-ER two to the love of film music! smile

I am back on board for this superb confection. Thank you, Bruce. While other labels ,by and large, took the summer off for us golden and silver age fans Kritzerland was there for us. A PLACE IN THE SUN was the highlight for me. I hope we will see more Franz Waxman and some Victor Young before the end of the year.

We have more Waxman coming - not sure if it will make it this year - and we definitely have Mr. Young and I'm sure at least one of those will make it this year.

Great to see more Waxman and Young are coming! smile

I'm a BIG Victor Young fan. Bruce, and chance you can do his score to "The File on Thelma Jordon?"

In the meantime I'm looking forward to the Newman cd.

Is there a possibility of any Kaper in the future?

Not at the moment, but I love Kaper so who knows. I once had the pleasure of playing Mr. Kaper's piano - he wasn't there, but I was, with Saul Chaplin. What a day that was.

Yes, all CDs shipped today. Now, why has no one guessed our next release?

Thelma Jordan - not sure if that's in your Victor Young stuff - we have a LOT.

Glad the Newman cd shipped today. Never saw the film but I'm sure I'll like the score, it looks delightful. All Alfred Newman is a must-buy for me.

Wow! a LOT of Victor Young! I'll be looking forward to it when ready. He's one of my top favorites. Victor Young was the first soundtrack LP I got. Actually, in 1956, my older brother Joe brought home a copy of Around the World in 80 Days. Been a Victor Young fan ever since! smile

As for guesses: 1950s? Paramount?

Nope. This is a title I've been alluding to for a while. It is a score that has never received its due, thanks to a particularly bad original CD presentation - add to that the the music as used in the film was truncated, not used at all, or moved around - as with Poltergeist II, I'm hoping that our new presentation will be a major revelation for what is a pretty great score by an amazing composer. The new presentation runs to 78 minutes. The previous release ran around thirty-three or so and eight or nine of those minutes were source cues not by the composer. I love the score and I'm here to say it is quite addicting once heard the way the composer wrote it.

Is this one of the scores from the 80s you hinted was coming soon?

Not the 80s. I'm not sure anyone will guess it, frankly.

1970s?

Composer is still with us?

Arlene Francis wants to know if the composer is new to Kritzerland, or have they appeared on the label before? (Of course, this isn't a "yes" or "no" question, so maybe we should just pass the questioning along...)

Also, can we take these blindfolds off? It's awfully hard to read the replies.

Well if it had a bad original CD representation this would imply that it's a digital era score so.... 90s then?

Well, I hate most of the scores of the 90s, but have released a couple from that decade that I do like very much - I suppose this will join that rarefied group.
