Why are people sensitive about nothing, my remark was simply humorous about the fact that many CUBANS came over from Cuba and settle in Florida. So the joke was if FLORIDA broke loose from AMERICA and landed next to CUBA ,The Cubans good or bad wouldn't have far to go. PERIOD, no insult. My remark about taxes is just a common thought about the people who pay taxes and those who don't. They come from everywhere in this world, Be responsible that's all. If your not then you should paid the price.

Alright I decided to remove my sarcastic reply and response seriously. Dan, you singled out one group of people, and as a whole disparaged all of them. They also happen to be the poorest, most vulnerable ppl in the state. Now your claiming it was an innocent joke. It's not cool. You can have the last word if you so choose.

TO SOLIUM- You make a sarcastic remark, which I am sure you will again in your lifetime and then accuse me of making a lethal joke which was not at all lethal but innocent in nature. Let's be honest here my friend. First, most of the people on this board are of the entertainment industry which makes your claim even less valid. Telling me to remove my innocent joke, one without creating a double standard you would have to say, we will never mention on this board RICHARD PRYOR, CHEECH AND CHONG, ANDREW DICE CLAY and more then half of all comedians who have made good money for decades with such humor. Believe me, mine is mickey mouse in comparison. It is not even insulting anyone. What really is amusing here is someone puts a thread on saluting a movie called THE WARRIORS-79.Their right, fine. Now you are laying it on me. There is something very morally off here.

I feel very comfortable forbidding Richard Pryor from participating in this thread.

Only been there once, back in 1996. On the positive side it is way warmer in Florida then here in Sweden so that`s always nice.

On the negative side I regret I never went to the Everglades to see the alligators.

Most of the people on this board are NOT in the entertainment industry, as if that had anything to do with anything. Secondly, you are not likely to ever make a living as a comedian, if your "jokes" here are any indication. Thirdly, bigotry is pretty easy to spot and pretty hard to conceal, even behind poor grammar and inartful humor. Fess up, dude. A heartfelt apology to the folks here (and to the Cubans!) just might get you off the hook.

I guess dan has a thing about Cubans (as well as English grammar).

Proper nouns, like first and last names, are capitalized. And no, you didn't quote the full user name, so you are going by just his name.

I'm going to help Dan.

Dan has not singled out anybody. He made a joke about where Florida would wind up. Open Google Maps. It's not going to his Canada, it's not going to hit Madagascar, etc. Please -- Dan may not have seen this before, but I've seen this Left-wing tactic before. Save it for another board. Exactly how many threads do we need locked here that aren't by YOR?

So, would you be so kind as to provide me with your statistical data on Cubans being the poorest in the state of Florida? According to the Henry J. Kaiser Faoundation 2010-2011 study, the poorest ethnicity group in Florida were black people (36%).

And while you're at that, I'm sure you happen to have handy a study from a legitimate non-partisan group or foundation that shows Cubans are the most "vulnerable" in the state of Florida. I mean, it's not like you pulled it out of your butt after the monkies came out.
Now your claiming it was an innocent joke.

This looks like a job for Dana.

Actually (and speaking only for myself) I would disagree with that assertion as well. I think the telling point is that although many Cubans were among the poorest and most vulnerable when they first set foot upon these shores, they have as a group prospered and done extremely well for themselves by hard work and sacrifice. But of course, prejudice requires no facts...

One of my big regrets after sailing down the coast a number of years ago to Panama and through the canal and then throughout the Caribbean to Puerto Rico and Jamaica and even a brief stop in Cuba, is that I never got a chance to visit Florida, which I've still never visited. It was in October and November, and it was hot and sticky, very summer-like, and the beaches in Puerto Rico were even more gorgeous and pristine than the beaches I had seen in Hawaii. Still want to visit Florida.

That said, I'm tickled by people who want to see Florida because they love the Showtime show "Dexter" -- don't they realize it was mostly filmed in California's Long Beach? Dexter's pink house is a 2 minute walk from a friend's house there, as is the apartment complex for the character Quinn. But this California native still hasn't given up hope of visiting Florida one of these days!
