HIGH CHAPPARAL
1967

This western has unusually high production values for a show of its era. Unlike BONANZA it is filmed on location. ANd, not the usual California locations with the ubiquitous Sa Gabriel mountains. This is filmed in Arizona!
Plis , the scripts are quite adult and thoughtful.

But, the acting. Oh, the acting! Pretty bad.
Hoping it gets better as it goes along.

Check it out!

Then came the dreaded John Lithgow as Churchill. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Just finished season two of Black Sails. Great stuff, I enjoyed it better than season one, & those last two episodes, wow! I'm going to give it a rest for a while & start season two of Dexter next, & maybe season two of American Horror Story after that.

Dexter is great but i found black sails just got a bit er... rudderless and went round in circles - by the time s4 came along i couldnt remember who had an alliance with who and which lot of pirates was running the port and who was attacking it etc etc. You will see what i mean.

Yes, I wasn't always sure of what was going on, but a bit of action & a bit of tit & bum & I'm fine smile

Oh, well, why didnt you say!!? Sure, a bit of action and some spunky women with cleavage, a bit of lesbian snogging, it ticked all the main boxes. However I think the later series had less cleavage and more confused action.

I found it a bit confusing (but then I find a lot of things confusing these days), but with the action at the end of season two, I hoped the stories would get more straightforward now, gold, women, revenge & no more talk of going legit after shooting up that town. Season three will be next year sometime, so many great TV box sets to go through, movies don't get much of a look in these days, but I do like a film or two in the weekend.

Killing Eve is such a good show, and the 2 leads are marvelous. Wonderfully written and acted. Loved it.

Mrs TG has watched this and recommends it. Your comments are tipping me over the edge to make some time for it. Not that hers didn't, you understand...

Tall Guy, all it took for me was the first episode and I was hooked. The show has, shall I say, an elevated sense of energy and wry humor and some wonderful suspense filled scenes. An oh yes, for sure, there will be blood. wink

Just watched the last episode, TominAtl, and it lived up to your description. Difficult to categorise it, but there was much black humour amongst the twists and turns. Glad to see S2 in the pipeline.

I just started Dexter season two. Poor old Dexter, he's having trouble with his killings & he can't get it up, but I'm sure things will improve for him.

Finished watching Fortitude. Thankfully it didn't go ridiculous sci-fi and i rather liked the weird reasoning. Just introducing it so late in the series didn't help.

The series itself just dragged on for far too long. Had too many extraneous underdeveloped characters.

The last two episodes suffered from lots of stupidity. The way of getting rid of the problem, was a nice idea but badly done so it didn't make any sense. A body being taken from a morgue, never mentioned again. A really stupid punch-up between a cop and a bad guy where despite trying to kill each other they keep stopping and talking and turning their backs on each other.

I hate it when characters are told something important but tell no one else and just run out of the scene. instead of getting the other cops to go with them. For no good reason. That happened all through the series.

I did guess the resolution to Stanley Tucci's character the second he appeared. Just had that feeling about him. He was very good in it. Decent acting in general. Worth a watch for sure. Just not as good as i was hoping it was gonig to be. The sore was very bleak and often effective and the locations look amazing.

Overall a 7.5/10 out of 10.

A.good show that would have better served as a thirty minute black comedy.
The side stories were filler.

Yeah i watched the first few series. Laura haddock was worth it alone.
It seemed to go a bit wobbly last time out but havent seen any new ones show up for a while - maybe they axed it?

Wanderer i did warn you about fortitude.
The premise may have been 7.5 but the actual delivery was way lower.
