Watched three eps New yeArs eve. One to go.
It's inspiring how much this show has improved. When it started the eps were too obvious and heavy handed in their messaging. The show has become.much more nuanced and creative in putting its much needed point across.

I've added the German Netflix show DARK to the list.

Watched ep one based on your post.
Not sure I want to invest my time in a STRANGER THINGS
type show with sex and nudity

As I've said before, it really doesn't have much in common with STRANGER THINGS, other than that both shows have paranormal elements, and there's a bit in DARK that deals with the 80s. But they're radically different in tone, narrative etc. DARK is considerably more....well, dark. And far more complex. It's much more "European".

It has alot in common with THINGS.
Not going to list all of them.

Its pretty much an unacknowledged remake.
With nudity

In German, of course. Is it available in any other language?

I find the STRANGER THINGS link severely exaggerated.

Its dubbed in many languages. I watched in English. Poorly dubbed.
Still not going to invest ten hours in this.
New season of TURN just went up!

I have THE EXPANSE on order.
ANy thoughts?

Great show -- ..i).

REALLY, THOR!?
Scavenged from parts of BLADE RUNNER, DEEP SPACE NINE, OUTLAND, AVATAR, THE 100,,,,
AND......
a totally incomprehensible storyline.

But hey, glad you like it, my friend
smile
brm

How is the storyline from The Expanse "totally incomprehensible"? There's nothing incomprehensible about it, unless you were not paying attention while you watched.

Thor, I'd like to recommend one more obscure show that isn't perfect, but I think would be right up your alley: Defying Gravity. Lasted only one season (or less) and you can get it pretty affordably.

Oh, I already saw it a long time ago. Loved it! A shame it never was renewed.

Added ALTERED CARBON to the list. Surprised there has been no thread or mention of it elsewhere.

It's a really good show, all the way up to the last episode or so, where it's just endless exposition and 'whodunnit' dialogue, like an Agatha Christie climax on speed.

I started watching it when NETFLIX crashed after 10 minutes or so.
Normally, I would be very angry but from what I saw NETFLIX did me a favor!!!

One recent program has has impressed thus that fits the bill

the STARZ series "Counterpart"...

Think of FRINGE by way of John le Carré.

Great Cast and quite interesting.

Check it out.
