Question for those who have received their copy, does this set include the album version of the Prologue (start at 1:55):

Or the Film Version (start at 1:46)?

For those who care - the new set contains the same album version of the narration, no film version.

- "West Wing" alternate won't be on the album (from the 1991 original soundtrack release)

i don't remember any west wing alternate in the ost?!

Anyway, as far as the score is concerned, this new legacy edition is missing:
-prologue without narration
-Death of the beast alternate (which is labeled as Transformation 1 in the MBTM cd)
-Wolf attack (as labeled in the MBTM cd) (this is for the scene with Maurice's journey to the castle and the wolf attacK. it has some similar segments with the final cue, but on the whole it's an alternate)

Seems this release like the OST has a lot of "crossfading" tracks. So if I burnt an MP3 version it won't play seamlessly? Anyone know which tracks need to be spliced together to avoid the split second of silence between them?

What program/device do you use that still has silence between tracks?

I burn to disc using iTunes. If I burn it as an "Audio CD" there won't be any silence between tracks, but if I burn it as an "MP3" disc there will be gaps between tracks that are intended to play seamlessly.

I was going to burn it as an MP3 disc so I could put several scores on one disc. This is for play on my CD player in my car.

There should be an option to remove gaps when burning a disc off ITunes, at least I’ve always been given that option.

I think thats if you burn an "Audio CD". MP3 format does not support gap-less play.

What program/device do you use that still has silence between tracks?

When I streamed this on Deezer on release day, I noticed there were short intervals of silence between some tracks that were meant to flow seamlessly. Very jarring.

It's not my device, it supports gapless playback and happily does so on my AAC and ALAC downloads and CDs extracted to those formats. As mentioned above, mp3 does not support gapless playback.

It helps to sample these things on a streaming service to know which titles to purchase on iTunes (which supports gapless) and Google Play Music (which does not, but the pricing of which is way more affordable).

This was posted elsewhere:

The only minor setback is that a few tracks bleep into the next: "Main Title - Prologue" bleeds into "Belle", "Tonight's the Night" bleeds into "Beauty and the Beast", "Beast Lets Go" bleeds into "The Mob Song", and "Battle On the Tower" / "Death of the Beast" bleeds into "Transformation." However, these tracks technically segue into each other as in the film. It only becomes slightly jarring if you want to listen to one of these tracks individually. Besides that, this release is great.

Ah! Yes, I get how that could be annoying. (I was surprised because I was assuming you were playing back directly from a device, not a disc.) I think that gap is dependent on the disc player you're using, so as you say later, there's no option for removing it when burning the disc.

Thanks a lot for the info. That's a lot more work than I hoped. I'll have to burn this score as a stand alone Audio CD. Looks like the entire score minus the pop song will just fit too!

The prologue track without the voice over was printed on the MUSIC BEHIND THE MAGIC BOX (cd 2, Beauty and the Beast expanded).

I have to say Disney hit it out of the ballpark with this release. While the original OST was a completely satisfying listen, hearing the complete score puts it on another level. There's so much depth and nuance musically speaking. The score is instrumental (no pun intended) in pulling you into the story and caring about the characters.

I love the narration myself, but I suppose I can understand someone wanting just, well, the music. On a soundtrack release. I GUESS that makes sense..

I have to agree with you solium. This is a wonderful release. I picked up The Music Behind the Magic box set some time ago and I feel like the Legacy release completes a score that I truly adore.

I'm glad I have both!

Is the "West Wing" track included in the new Legacy cd? I can't see it in the tracklist...

It is indeed! It's titled "Escape from the West Wing" and is matched with the scene where Belle is attacked by the Wolves.

On a second note: Does anyone remember whether all the original 1991 releases of the soundtrack contained the alternate Transformation? I remember my sister had the original tape cassette and I remember the music for the death of the Beast as "Transformation #1" from the "Magic Behind the Music" album for "Beauty and the Beast". So when I downloaded the soundtrack from iTunes a couple years ago I didn't recognize the movie version of the "Transformation" score used in subsequent releases.

I have the 2001 Soundtrack release from when the film was released in IMAX but it only contains the "Death of the Beast" part of the original track and even then it was changed to end with the 'End Credits' of the re-release. I also have the 2018 Legacy Collection album as discussed here. Great album but disappointed with the lack of fanfare and the lack of all the music from "Music Behind the Magic" and the complete original "Transformation Cue" so I think I will try and get my hands on the 1991 release of the soundtrack and keep the "Legacy Collection" as well.

I also thought the Linear notes for the "Legacy Collection" weren't that great either to honest. I wish they would have talked more about the making of the film itself the score in addition to discussing Howard Ashman's death.

Oddly enough this Legacy edition doesn't seem to be listed on Soundtrack Collector. I've scrolled the page many times, nothing.

I wanted to compare the timings of the different tracks with some of the former edition since they don't appear neither on the back of the new CD nor in the booklet.
