I'm glad this is coming to CD for folks that don't listen to records since CDs of this are rare and pricey whereas LPs are plentiful and (really) cheap. But it seems like such a strange reissue. How high is the demand really? And if it is as high as the odd second hand used CD sale would indicate, then why not expand upon it in some capacity? There isn't any new music on it and I'd be stunned if there were new notes since Varese hasn't even hinted at that on any of their social media platforms. Faltermeyer is not involved (he didn't even know about it until someone from FSM asked him about the release on FB) so there's no point hoping against hope we'll get any new words or tunes from him either. Bizarre.
According to Amazon, this is now pushed back to 1/12/18. Wouldn't it be great if this was a delay to add new HF cues? To be clear, it absolutely isn't, but a lad can dream...
from description on amazon: The soundtrack to the 1984 cult film, Thief Of Hearts. The film stars Steven Bauer and David Caruso and produced by the team of Bruckheimer and Simpson. The soundtrack is a mix of the original score by Harold Faltermeyer (best known for his work on Beverly Hills Cop and Fletch) and features songs by Melissa Manchester, E.G. Daily, Annabella Lewin of Bow Wow Wow and Joe Esposito. The soundtrack includes three bonus tracks and is available for the first time on CD.
Thanks, I don't create the product pages so thanks for the heads up. I let them know. Smokey And The Bandit Varese released recently was the first time on CD, maybe some of the copy was used and they forgot to take that part out. Should be fixed soon
Three questions for you:
1. What are those three new tracks? 2. Will there be liner notes? 3. Will it be out in January?
The previous CD was a bootleg so this is the first time on CD so the wording on Amazon IS correct
Are you absolutely sure about that, Peter? i bought it when it was released - and it could be found absolutely anywhere. CDs were still in its infancy at the time. It's on Casablanca Records, which was a fully legit label distributed by Phonogram. Maybe it wasn't properly licensed? I have no idea about that. What i do know is that my copy is a proper Casablanca release. What's the backstory there?
I just found a site with the CD itself and it looks like my old A Chorus Line CD I got decades ago. I told the right person to tweak the product page. Thanks everyone a lot for the help!
I'm pretty sure this was an early compact disc release. Mine is packed away so I can't confirm but it was always considered a rare disc. I've owned two myself. One was pretty scuffed up and then it seems like I got another one later. I'd happily buy a newly mastered version with those three extra tracks.
No. While there was a bootleg from Germany with bonus tracks, there was also an official CD. I saw it at CD Trader and it was out of my price range so I didn't buy it. A friend of mine did.
