Re: "Except that the gal is a Academy Award nominee (for her first role, which she won against 10.000 people) and already did 4 films starring with some of the best A-List talents in Hollywood."

Alas, that isn't saying much! When we see Sharon Lawrence beating the transcendent Emmanuelle Riva, I rest my case -- and I happen to like Sharon Lawrence and was happy for her that she won. But it essentially made the case for the embarrassingly atavistic provincialism of the Oscars!!! I was very embarrassed by some of the People's Choice-like votes that night!

I think you mean Jennifer Lawrence.

Reading the "did they mention the music" section in FSM Friday, I am surprised at the number of negative remarks.

I have yet to see the film. Maybe the in-film experience is very different, but on CD I think I think it's a lovely listen.

Well, I listened to the entire soundtrack (and not just the brief samples), and, as I've written, while it won't displace "A Single Man" nor "W.E." as my favorite Abel Korzeniowski soundtrack, it's definitely worthwhile, and I'm sure I'll be buying it at iTunes soon (but keep hoping they'll release it on CD).

Quick update

IF LLL releases this score on cd it will NOT include Horner's music. Those rights are not available (as to who owns what it's anyone's guess).

We are still waiting to see what is going on. Apparently Sony Masterworks released it in Europe and are selling it stateside, even though they are not allowed to (it happens). It's all very muddled at this point. We hope to have something worked out shortly. If it comes out, it will most likely be late Nov/early Dec giving us another release we didn't plan on having. lol

Ironically, we might be doing John Debney's Bonnie and Clyde at the same time. Just trying to hash out the details of that deal as I type.

Considering we still do not have a sign off on ANY of the planned BLACK FRIDAY titles we might just release these two and call it a year. lol

Gotta love show bidness!

MV

How's this one coming along? Any more info when or if La La Land is going to release this one? If so, will there be more music than one the Sony Masterworks CD or the same program?

The overseas release threw a monkey wrench into a release for us, so NO...this one will not be coming out stateside. Sorry guys.

It's weird how this happens. It's like the Intrada-Disney first runs (AVENGERS, OZ, LONE RANGER etc.). In the UK they're double the price of normal releases as they're imports which isn't the greatest for the overseas market, but something seems to have changed with THOR (although maybe it's because there's no extra music).

Sorry Sony wouldn't work it out for R&J, MV.

It had nothing to do with Sony. It had to do with the multiple rights holders and the multiple release deals they had all over the world. In short, the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing.

Sorry LLL won't be getting the business, but for US listeners you can get the CD shipped from Amazon UK for under $20.

MS: Thank you.

Oh dear. At nearly twice as much as it is to download it at iTunes, this Korzeniowski fan just bought it from Amazon UK. God help me.

Thanks for this. Certainly a much better price. Hopefully it holds for a while.

I received the CD on Tuesday and although I listened to it with my not inexpensive Sennheiser headphones, today I put the CD into my large system with tall black Klipsch towers and subwoofer, and there's no comparison, even with outstanding headphones. Korzeniowski's soundtrack sounds great, and I happen to like soundtracks that make good use of keyboards, as this one does. And there's also a lovely women's choir vocalise that is nearly ethereal. I must say that I'm more interested in seeing the movie than I was BEFORE listening to the CD. It'll probably never replace "A Single Man" as my favorite Abel Korzeniowski soundtrack, but this soundtrack, to my surprise, is growing on me. And it's wonderful hearing it fill a large room!

I've now had several days to play this, and it never disappoints me! With my large Klipsch towers, it sounds wonderful (although I sometimes have to turn down the subwoofer!). I find myself wanting to see the movie just to see how Abel Korzeniowski integrates this music into the action on the screen. For a while I regretted not buying it on iTunes for half the price, but now I am sooooooooooooooo glad I bought the CD!

My favorite current composer, really deserved the award it's my favorite score of the year as well. This score and W. E. have been some if not the best music written this last couple of years in my opinion.
