A pretty good match, even by England standards! I admire those scrappy Scots and their never give up-ness; their play reminds me of how they battled Germany a while back. I was aware of nationalistic tensions and that was evident with Rooney's ebullient celebration of his second goal. The Lallana-to-Oxlade-Chamberlain goal was the highlight, though. Oxlad-Chamberlain getting clotheslined by Mulgrew was pretty nasty, and Mulgrew should have been shown a red card for that foul.
they hate us but we dont even know who they are. Think US/canada! Although we are finally getting the message. They certainly were plucky - as opposed to awful a few months ago.

One rarely sees Roy Hodgson so animated! The reactions of Gordon Strachan were also strong signals that the match was more than a mere friendly.
BTW, several of the matches yesterday were intense; France-Sweden was a good one, Chile-Uruguay certainly was heated, and Belarus-Mexico, too.
All I know is Sturridge is out for another 6 weeks, so I'll probably be switching off from the Premier League myself, going by Liverpool's performances...
Now that the International Interregnum is (finally) over, we can return to league and CL matches.
I do hope Bayern Munich put thread favorites Manchester City--meaning everyone here but me--out of our misery.
Liverpool could use a quick, painless exit from the competition, as well.
"Interregnum" - the word on every football's lips. Except Dave Whelan's, where it would come out as "inter-racial", preceeded by the words "some of my best friends are..."

He's the--as of this post--Wigan owner, right? Isn't this the same Dave Whelan who the media portrayed as a "lovable-but-long-suffering" owner of a middling team that was just so happy after his side defeated thread favorites Manchester City in the FA Cup Final a couple years ago?*
the savagery with which santamonious and fickle media turns on perceived villains is getting out of control in the uk.
one thing to see it aimed at someone who deserves it, like when sheff united keeps ties with a convicted rapist, but when its just a fairly blunt but not very subtle northern chairman making a blunder, its hardly world news. if they hung draw and quarter dave whelan, half the people north of birmingham would be in prison!! even his apology - the Some of my friends are... is just more foot in mouth disease!!
old dave reminds me of the northern guy from Enfield/Fast show - i say what i like and i like what a bloody well say!!!
