You haven't lived until you've enjoyed some poached pears prepared to perfection in a light honey cinnamon glaze. Of course, there are many other garnishes as well. And Fivehouse, as always, is quite correct. Avoid combining with fontina. Makes the perfect after dinner light dessert and a great alternative to black coffee and grapefruit for breakfast.

I'm coming over for this "perfect after dinner light dessert" !!!

NOTES ON BACK OF CD

Thought to have long been lost, the newly discovered 1/4 inch stereo masters from this lone BBC production in 1980 is finally available, after years of obscurity and near-legendary status.

For years, FIVEHOUSE fans have been waiting for this moment. To hear the glorious score to this long forgotten entry in the ALAN FIVEHOUSE lore. This production was not sanctioned by Fox or Frederick K. Loftybeck, which was produced at a time between the first and second feature films. To this day, a proper video relase has never materialized, due to legal issues.

So Sit back, take out your magnifying glass, and enjoy the wonderful score from a true maestro!

Rita Loftbeck, 2007

It's overdue for an expanded re-issue.

Yeah. Definately needs two discs plus the alternates. There may even be enough for three discs if some of the source cues are included.

There are some bits missing from "Fingerton's Confession" and "The Pub-Orderly Conduct" that need to be restored. A re-master would also be welcome to remove some of the original tape hiss but I'll welcome any release as long as none of it is in mono.

I don't wish to sound like the typically greedy (but ungrateful) FSMer, but can we expect remastered editions of the AGENT NORMAN NEWMAN scores?

Expanded editions coming first quarter. The sound on these - oh, just delightful!

As my fellow Fivehouse Fanatics know, Alan Fivehouse: Scotland Yard's Finest means a heap to me, both in terms of mawkish childhood sentimentality and adult dreams cruelly turned to dust. A two-disc set of AF:SYF would make 2016 a vintage year, as would expanded editions of those now OOP (and peskily expensive) Agent Norman Newman scores.

How about a box set in the shape of a humidor?

Wasn't there an FSMer who posted under the username "Agent Norman Newman"? I miss their clever, witty, and dedicated insights on All Things Fivehouse.

MaxB, I realize that you're probably busy with life and stuff, but have you ever considered creating a Fivehouse Wiki?

Sure.

This person last posted on the thread on Jun 2, 2015. Scroll up a bit and you'll see it. I always got a kick out of "Agent Newman" using the cover art of the soundtrack as their avatar.

It's nice to see this thread bumped back once in a while. A true original. I like to think of it as our own "Pomander Walk" amongst all the towering cookie cutter cement and glass structures that continue to spring up around it also known as the Star Wars threads.

But a shame about the spoilers in the track titles. "Stu gets it" indeed!

There was an interview with Martin Freeman in an issue of UK Telly where he opens up--that is, "opening up" as much as a world-renowned British eccentric opens up--about his Fivehouse Five days. I thought you'd posted it here but that it got buried under a bunch of Star Wars VII speculation threads. If anyone can do a repost, this Fivehouse Five/Martin Freeman fan will be ever so grateful.

I’m perfectly satisfied with the original album, but happy (not really) for those who wanted an expansion.

The only thing of personal interest in the expansion is the alternate of the secondary espionage theme for clarinet, oboe and xylophone.
