Well, as the story goes, Todd was so beloved by the family he was offered a job to help maintain the gardens but since he had a serious aversion to mud he had to decline the offer. Instead, he went on to handle other duties on the property including security. The recent wine cellar finds on the property were a well guarded secret for years which I'm sure Todd was aware of. Loftybeck often said that he simply could not function without Todd's help. Todd briefly tried a career in soccer, but he was always turning the ball over to the opposing teams. The last anyone heard of Todd was when he moved on to the real estate business where it is said he made a small fortune. Todd is still the owner of several businesses in Manchester, VT, namely this organic farm-to-table Mexican restaurant that's wonderful. No greasy spoon shit there. Very MaxB

Any word on the "official" Alan Fivehouse website? Every time I check in there, the domain is still listed as being available. They're probably lying low over the #MeToo accusations by Demelza Delorio that surfaced re 'Scotland Yard's Finest'. I doubt the whole affair. The accounts differ, it's strip poker one minute and whist the next, and independent accounts by both Michael Gambon and camera-jock Len Billington suggest the jacuzzi could never have held three. It's getting out of hand. Why now? They've at least kept it out of the papers.

Who Dares Baldwins (2017) (Shelved since 2001) An independent film event (also being filmed for a mockumentary) being held at the Iranian Embassy in Los Angeles is under siege from a highly trained group of terrorists disguised as craft service operatives. To combat them, Tinsel Land sends in its own special task force - The Baldwin Brothers. Billy, Daniel, William, Stephen, Dan, and leader Alec Baldwin. Plus their black friend. And a woman. But what is truth, what is fiction and what is Daniel doing running naked through the halls? The Baldwins can trust no one but themselves. And to a lesser extent their black friend and that woman. Together, they will stop at nothing until LaLa Town is safe. Or unless they get a really good offer from one of their agents that means they have to leave right away. Music by Gary Chang Directed by William Wesley.

A friend of a friend who knows an associate who has a friend who alleges that there was a screen test made with none other than Peter Ustinov--wearing Alan Fivehouse makeup and costume. If this footage were to exist, it would be just as "important" as when Edward G. Robinson wore Dr. Zaius makeup. Can the Loftybeck Estate confirm the existence of said screen test? The remaining living Loftybecks are preparing for the Christmas holiday and ski season in Vermont, but a quick telephone call to Gene confirmed that, indeed, a screen test for Mr. Ustinov was shot and is in the "Archives" on the Vermont estate. In addition, Mr. Ustinov was a regular at Fred's Vermont estate during Easter for some reason. Anyway, Gene wishes his best regards and summarized by saying that there is movement on the infamous "Brown Box" project that may be ready in time for the 40th anniversary of the original ALAN FIVEHOUSE. Some activity from Gene Loftybeck on the official ALAN FIVEHOUSE estate blog: "..Been busy with a lot of projects lately. We're trying to get the official "BROWN BOX" out this year for the 40th anniversary of ALAN FIVEHOUSE. It's been challenging, as we've uncovered new score elements with a whole bunch of new material. This is gonna be a whopper of a set when we're done. Also, we found the original negative and sound elements to a lost gem of the ALAN FIVEHOUSE UNIVERSE (AFU) that fans will go nuts over. Yes, it's the 1985 film THE GREAT DETECTIVES. It featured for the first time all of the delightful characters in the AFU up until that point in the timeline. Stay tuned! This one just finished an 8k transfer process and re-mastering into Dolby Atmos sound. Bill Conti's score never sounded so good in this one!! See you soon>>>>Gene "wow" Very MaxB

THE GREAT DETECTIVES (1985) When reporter Stanton Moore (James Franciscus) is gravely injured after an attempt on his life while researching a story, old friend Alan Fivehouse (Michael Lonsdale) travels to New York for clues that span him across the country to stop a building conspiracy to destroy the United Nations. Along for the ride with Fivehouse are Moore's associates, Philadelpia Detective Mason James (Severin Darden), Dr. Stuart Williard (Patrick Stewart), "The Reasoner" Neville Markus (Leo McKern), Geordie Gilberdyke (Simon Ward), Prime Minister Blunton (Tom Baker). Louis Jourdan, Robbie Benson, Jenny Aguter, Kelly Preston, and Brian Keith. I've willfully put this out of my mind for 34 years. Why? Get ready for a "meta" post. In the summer of 1985, I was bedridden for two weeks with a particularly nasty flu. By the time I was well enough, "The Great Detectives", being the US flop that it was, had long since left the theaters, so I never saw it. Its subsequent non-release on US VHS didn't help, either. It also never showed up on cable. You have no idea what it was like being a Fivehouse fan AND a Smiths fan in the US, circa 1985. Hope there's a DVD of this soon (Network? Kino Lorber?).

I've got a mate, who works for Disney, who says now that the Marvel phase has run it's course and the Star Wars brand is starting to tank, THIS might be their NEXT BIG Franchise. I guess not any more. Much much more information to share from the goofy Loftybeck sibling-brothers. But in the meantime, rest in peace dear Michael Lonsdale. You will live on on beyond your wildest aspirations. Very, MaxB

You'd think with a pandemic going on that these Loftybeck offspring would have lots of time to kill. I am always so curious about what's going on in their world - because my world is pretty much non-existent at this point. But man oh Mankiewicz, it's like extruding aluminum with these guys. Finally, Gene replied after I sent an email on New Years Eve. I wonder if his brother even exists any more. Hey Max, Happy New Year! Sorry for the delayed response, but we've been on a tear lately on a bunch of stuff, including the new incarnation of the brown box, which we announced over a decade ago. A lot of progress on that project as it has evolved many times over the years due to the wealth of material in the catalog that needed to be parsed and reviewed. Naturally, we've been been affected by the passing of Michael last year and have many more stories that we can share now that he has left us. It may also surprise you that some of the stories have an Ennio Morricone connection, who sadly, also left us last year. Michael and Ennio met due to an accidental bump-in with uncle Fred many years ago, but I'll leave that story for later when I have a free moment. For now, I can now say that Michael was a bit different than the persona that played through the prism of ALAN FIVEHOUSE. He did not want Uncle Fred to ever disclose "the big reveal" about Michael, but since they're both dead now, I can now intimate it. Michael was a very generous and sweet man, who was more of a prankster when he was around us. I have a story about a moose and chocolate to tell you, but I'll also save that for later. Cheers for now. >>> Gene
