only say episode one last night but the music really stuck out. enjoyed it a lot. never liked this show, but can see that they want this last stretch to be bigger and feel special. so naturally they turn to music to achieve that. why they, and other shows, don't dial the music up more like this is beyond me. it makes quite an impact. maybe this will end strong so i can regard it as something other than the death knell of clone wars.

Two exciting episodes, especially the second.

For me, though, the score to "Wolves and a Door" just didn't sounds like Star Wars to me -- one of the more disappointing scores of the show.

However, "A World Between Worlds" was more like , especially the exciting orchestral work during the climax*.

And the episode is just terrific. An episode like this two seasons ago would have yielded more questions than answers and felt empty, but this gave plenty of answers on top of adding new interesting questions.

* = Unfortunately, during that climax, this jarring shift to some 1980's-sounding synth work completely ruined the emotional mood that was going on.

Three episodes remaining and of that a two-part series finale. It's almost over. I assume all three episodes will air next week together.

Justin, I liked the music in Wolves and a Door- it was clearly riffing on Raiders of the Lost Ark- the desert excavation/Well of the Souls scenes.

Two excellent episodes! Can't believe there are only three more. I wish the music had been better overall (I wish the guy who did the Star Wars Lego Freemaker Adventures, Michael Kramer. It's much better)

I thought the music of both of the last episodes was top notch. All of it fit with what was going on. (There was music in The Empire Strikes Back that "didn't sound like Star Wars" until it did.)

Yeah, the Raiders riffs were better than his Jaws and Rocketeer riffs. More mood, less direct quotes. And then they threw in a Close Encounters quote for good measure!

I'm really hoping that there is a third and fourth season soundtrack.

Tonight's the night! Last Episode. *sigh*

They've really kept up the quality. Last episode got weird. All for it. Looking forward to tonight, and to whatever they decide to do next.

And I was proud to "fix" the orchestra, the CoPPO for my friend of too many years Kevin Kiner....

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "fix". But thank you! (I figure it's good and I love Rebels.) And I gather CoPPO is The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

Does Mr. Kiner know if the last two seasons will get soundtrack releases?

Some exciting stuff in the two-part finale.

Yeah, Kiner did great. Look forward to a score release of seasons 3-4!

The series stuck the landing. I'm excited to see more from these characters in the post-Rebels years. My guess is, Filoni will hit at least three of them (x + the two who are looking for x) in some future animated project.

Yeah, I think there's zero chance you-know-who and you-know-who leaving to find you-know-who, will just be left there; I suspect a spin-off series. And I bet it's been in the works for a while now.

I was not a fan of that finale, which i guess is befitting of a show I also was not a fan of. Still I thought the two weeks prior were stronger so I was hopeful. But good riddance to those characters, unless the prior speculation here is right and I will be tortured again!

I did notice the music however, and it was strong. I would certainly welcome another digital release and one that focuses a little more heavily on these final episodes.

Given the turnaround time on these series, I agree. I'm assuming Disney XD would want to keep Star Wars running, so I'd anticipate seeing a new series as soon as this fall (whether it's these characters or others). Disney ordered domain names and copyrights, etc for something called "Star Wars: Resistance" - which may be a new sequels-set animated series, or may be literally anything else I guess (novel, comics, mobile game, toys, etc).

I see on IMDb Kevin Kiner is not the composer for the new "Star Wars: Resistance" series from Filoni.

Dylan McGill, who appears to have come out of nowhere, has landed a Star Wars TV series.

Literally, his IMDb resume goes back only has far as this year:

That must have been one impressive demo pitch.

I'm really very bummed that the Season 3 & 4 soundtracks haven't materialized. frown I was really looking forward to some of that Thrawn music, as well as stuff from the final episodes of the series. I know there's some cues in mp3 online, but I really want the music in higher quality. *sigh*

Maybe because Kiner will be busy on Clone Wars?

I wasn't aware that show was coming back. I see this was announced a week ago. But so far it's only twelve episodes.

Correct, there has been no word of any episodes following this upcoming season of 12 episodes. It might be just all that is needed for Filoni and Co. to wrap up storylines already in production before they were canceled back in 2013. I assume Kiner is coming back as composer for continuity's sake.

I can't remember his name anymore, but does anyone remember several years ago (it might have been as much as a decade) IMDb showed a young up-and-coming composer almost no one had heard of suddenly having scored several very high-profile upcoming films, and it became clear later on that he had added the credits himself as a way to boost his profile?

Something tells me a similar situation is happening here with Dylan McGill. I noticed today that Wikipedia says that Michael Tavera is scoring Star Wars: Resistance, and not only does his filmography make a lot of sense for the project (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0851699 - tons of Disney animation!) but if you go to his web site and click on "credits" you can see he has added it to the top: http://michaeltavera.com/wp-content/uploads/Michael-Tavera-Composer-Credits.pdf

This news apparently broke very quietly back in May when an animation director named Victor Cook, who worked with Tavera on a Stretch Armstrong cartoon, mentioned it on twitter: https://twitter.com/Victor_Cook1/status/996869983987679232

As for McGill, he is also on Twitter (https://twitter.com/dtimedylan) and has even gone as far as posting a picture of a piano sketch and claims they start recording next month with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. But it still seems fishy to me. Above and beyond his lack of prior credits, why Australia? Would they record a score there just because that's where the composer lived? Or were they recording the score there anyway and decided to look for local talent? Has the WASO ever recorded scores before? Why did he call it "Star Wars Resistances" and why did he tag Michael Giacchino? That said, the WASO's official twitter account liked his piano sketch tweet, so...?

Of course, it would be totally normal to have more than one composer working on a show, and if McGill sent off a demo impressive enough to get hired on a Star Wars show right out of the gate, more power to him. But at any rate, at the moment it seems like Tavera is the one most likely to be accurate.

That was the infamous Andrew James Thomas (unless you know of a another one; I can't rule that out).

Claimed to have rejected scores to "Wall-E" and "The Land Before Time XI", as well as claiming to have been a protégé of Marc Shaiman, and that he knew other composers like Henry Mandefrini and Joel Goldsmith. All of which was a lie. Amongst other lies. There was a thread about it and his melt down, over at the MovieMusicUK forums (if it's still there; I saved a copy of the thread elsewhere and don't have it handy).

But we did have a real composer who came out of the gate with fairly little to his name and got work because of his other work for composers: Chris P. Bacon.

Got to say: that trailer for the series ... this looks fucking awful. I've seen worse, but for a Star Wars series that was embarrassing.
