Remember, we all have different views and opinions about this score or that score or composer. It's ok to disagree, just don't take it so personally if someone isn't the biggest fan of Hans Zimmer or whoever else we are talking about. For a while I was missing the John Powell train, then after hearing some more folks talk about him and his music I finally GOT IT. It's okay to not like everything by this or that composer, that's normal. Let's make sure we keep this all civil

You always have to keep in mind that a composers job is do deliver what the studio/producer/director wants. If they want, what we heard on the Man Of Steel score, then it's hard to get upset with Zimmer considering he's supposed to deliver what they want.
Whatever we may think of his score or him, I'm confident that he put in a LOT of hard hours and a lot of time on this score and to please the higher ups. Whatever job you do, if you put in a lot of hard hours and sweet into it and then are told by folks that it stinks, it's hurtful and saddening no matter what profession you are in, whether it's cleaning windows or plastering walls. Let's try to be respectful of that of course.
Also, Zimmer fans, myself included, don't take it personally if someone isn't a fan of this or that score. That does not change your feelings at all on the score. If anything, you probably feel like, "how can they NOT like this score as it's so darn good." I've had that feeling before and can't understand why someone doesn't like this or that score, but if they don't, that's fine. To each their own
Any and all name calling should be avoided as we are on large family so to speak with a shared interesting hobby!
I thought the score was above average used in the film. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the use of the William Tell theme towards the end. It reminded of the good ole days when action sequences had these really defined THEMES that made everything you see on screen more enjoyable. Yes we get action scenes with some themes here and there, but it's nothing like it used to be. What Hans did with that theme I think was pretty darn cool!

Honestly...how is it possible that every freakin' thread turns into a 'Zimmer is a hack' discussion!!
This started about the LONE RANGER score and one post derails it into the same shit in umpteen other threads!
Because these ass-hats live empty, meaningless lives and only get pleasure from bashing something they don't have the ability to do themselves. Or, they can't bear to see threads where people genuinely like music they don't and can't resist the urge to piss all over them in an attempt to try and convince us that it is somehow not valid music.
Last I looked this was a discussion board and discussion can sometimes mean nay as well as yea. No one is trying to convince you of anything - for you personally it would be a lesson in futility because only you are right, apparently. No one has called YOU an asshat, no one has made obnoxious, inane posts about YOU personally. You could stand to learn a thing or two, from me and others.
I have not "bashed" Mr. Zimmer. In fact, I have stated that I've enjoyed some of Mr. Zimmer's scores and THEMES and you know what - I even issued one of them on CD. But because I don't happen to find any themes at all in two specific films I should go hide in the corner and not express an opinion in a discussion about Mr. Zimmer and his score for this film? I'm not even bashing these two film scores - I'm just saying that I don't hear these "themes" that you find so brilliant. If you weren't so busy being a jerk you'd have actually read and understood what I wrote and that it was my opinion. Perhaps reading and understanding is not your strong suit.
You obviously find themes in this film and Man of Steel. That's wonderful. Applause to you. I don't agree. That's wonderful, too and applause to me. That's what makes horse racing and no amount of "asshat" comments or smarmy "Look, Haines is going to teach us what a theme is" crap is going to do anything but make you look like a twelve-year-old Internet twit. Which you do.
