"ive just got to get the pace car out of the way!" - (when someone struggling with constipation!)

Heh, haven’t heard that one, it’s funny. We have a friend who, on the way to the toilet, says that he’s just going to drop the kids off.

...at the pool.

Here's an old Black Country phrase of a kind that you don't hear around these parts much nowadays:

"'Ers gorra face like a bosted spanner."

Not that I'm saying these need to come back.

"Clip joint."

A nightclub or bar that charges exorbitant prices.

They still exist, but the term used to describe them has been absent for too long.

....an absolute SHOWAAAHHH!

Gets dangerously close to "Shoah", and that's very dark territory, very very dark.
However Terry Thomas can make good for a lot of bad.

Side tracking the thread here for a short moment.
How can we not open our hearts to someone who sacrificed his professional life to the portrayal characters who almost all epitomise the heels, cowards, opportunists, exploiting scrounging scum of the earth. After all, what's worse than an evil bad person? The cowardly opportunistic band wagoneerers. The zeros that turn a 1 into a million, a single lunatic into a dangerous mob.

And still you had to like his characters simply because it was portrayed by Terry Thomas.
I was delighted to see him in a good character role in "The man from U.N.C.L.E."

"There'll be a hot time in the old town tonight."

I love that one, and have been using it this week like an autistic FSMer screeches "Ordered!" over on the uninteresting side of this forum.

"You Juggins" used as a mild insult. I remember it from an old kids' book, probably Enid Blyton.

"That's brill!" or "That's ace!" as we 70s kids used to say.
