I agree with your views on the ridiculously prolonged death scene of Carl, Mike (with scenes repeating almost the exact same content, but in slightly different -- and sometimes even the same -- words). But I disagree with some of your others. A loud BANG would have been proper, to drive home what just happened, to drive another nail in. But... "poof" is what we got. I assumed that was not to attrack walkers. And don't even get started on the ridiculous image of Morgan literally pulling a guy's guts out. It was so crazy over the top...I mean we've just watched him stab a dozen dudes, we get the idea he is no longer a pacifist... but no, we needed the someone's insides literally ripped out of their bodies. There were so many wrong creative choices made in this episode it was heartbreaking. Again a major moment was fumbled by the creative team. I actually loved that. A surprisingly brutal moment that epitomizes Morgan's presumed voyage back to his 'killing machine' self. And Carl's Future Happy Vision with Negan and Eugene alive and well and living with Santa Rick felt like it was written specifically to be a WTF moment for the audience, not anything that Carl or anyone from Alexandria would actually wish for. "Ok Pa, I'm a dyin', but let's bring Eugene back even though he betrayed us, oh and you know the dude you've been promising to kill for 2 seasons...but you never use any of the 563 opportunities you've had to do so, that guy who actually turned Glen and Abraham's heads into F*CKING MUSH, yeah that dude...you guys just shake hands and make up. That's my dyin' wish, Pa". I think you may have misunderstood this moment. What have been set up as "likely" flashforwards are gradually revealed to be rosycoloured, and then FALSE premonitions. The appearance of Negan obviously hammers in the falsehood once and for all. It's an alternative timeline that will never exist.

The appearance of Negan obviously hammers in the falsehood once and for all. It's an alternative timeline that will never exist. Actually, I did get that it was Carl's "rose colored glasses" hope for the future, but just couldn't buy that he'd include Negan in his "wish list", so to speak. Eugene, sure ok, they could manage forgiveness there. But thinking anyone in the Alexandria group could even imagine a happy future that includes Negan doesn't seem likely . For me the main problem was that the drama was just clumsy. Heavy handed and awkward. Even when I've had issues with the show's content it always has been a pretty polished program. This episode felt thrown together, the cuts from group to group didn't have a flow, it always felt jarring. But still, I'm rooting for the show to find it's way back to the level of the first 2 or 3 seasons . I dont want it to fail , I want it to succeed.

From dragon THE WALKING DEAD---the ratings continue to sink. The last episode had a 2.9 rating (18-49 age group) which is the lowest since a Season 1 episode had a 2.8 rating.

Interesting that nobody commented on mondays episode. I forgot it was on - and i forgot to record it!! Unthinkable 2 years ago. I will catch the repeat. If i dont, hands up if ive missed any story advancement?!

Finally watched the last two episodes. Dunno wot to say really. Everything seems to be deliberately-annoying filler until rick kills negan. Inbetween ordinarily sharp and streetwise characters doing stupid things to drag the thing out longer.

Sorry joan you couldn't find the thread and with new phone I couldn't find my password!! Alright now. This thread was only on page two. There is an netherworld when threads drop off page two but aren't in the search engine. When that happens you have to go to Google type film score monthly walking dead and it shows up.

I found Mondays episode more drawn out filler. The drop that negan did was high enuf to break both legs or his back. And it was obvious the whole desolate building sequence would come to nothing. The only tense theme is whether dwight was gonna get found out or not. Gabriel is the shows most irritating character and ive long hoped he got bitten. To be honest..im starting to root for the walkers.

We could solve it all by letting some walkers into the scriptwriters brainstorming meeting and bolting the door!!

Sorry, but that finale was a pile of unsatisfactory poo. Two fkn seasons wasted for that feeble puff of smoke? Nothing less than negan getting battered by his own bat or stabbed to death by a thousand cuts by EVERYONE he had wronged wouldve been deserved. What happened when they kept the saviours locked up? They got out and killed. And whats gonna happen next series when negan gets out? Oh perleeze, no more. "... THE WALKING DEAD---Season 8's finale drew 7.9 million viewers which is the lowest season finale rating since Season 1. The Season 8 finale had an 18% increase over the previous week's episode, but was 30% down from Season 7's finale."

To be honest the Negan character has gone on a whole season too long. And now theyve dragged it out to the next. The worst kind of scriptwriters stretching out a dead donkey. Somewhere along the line these producers of shows that start well get so conceited they think they can do whatever they like to their audience. In the end, plot twists become passe and readable because they do the same shit all the time. Eugene messing with the ammo was guessable three episodes ago. And before the finale started i thought Surely they wont have the front to keep negan alive for yet another series? But they did. When shows start to iritate me i know its time to phase them out. There was a time when id stay up till 2am sundays to get the next episode of WD in time with u,s. How times change.
